Our friend @20Hojo has had a rough time lately dealing with multiple surgeries to repair the remnants of an old baseball related injury. He’s a special guy and a dear friend and he will get through this. Please keep Howard and Kim in your thoughts and prayers.

@JTGenter I got to play that same game using AAvantage miles on BA. 3 pax to Europe in PE was 240,000 miles plus $1900 I just paid for the damn tickets ($4400), which the cynic in me thinks is the whole point of the surcharges.

United awards are now bookable through Emirates Skywards. Mileage rates aren't bad, but the taxes and fees make it an absolute no-go. For example, a business class award from Newark to Amsterdam costs a reasonable 64k miles... plus $815 in taxes and fees.

@scottngelfand @WayneRandazzo I was at those games - in Milwaukee and Miami. As a fan, I loved them. But certainly understand the player perspective.

@WayneRandazzo I’m not sure if you were announcing for the Mets yet, but I distinctly remember a season within the past 15 years where they played both a 19 inning and 20 inning game. Those games can crush your soul. So it’s because of games like that that I like the new rule.

Hate it. Wish it would at least start in the 12th inning instead of the 10th. However, players, managers, front office execs all love it.

@JTGenter I’m still booking and hoping for the best. Just yesterday jumped on a good cash price to Paris over MLK weekend. Worst case I cancel, take the credit, and stay in the US. I’ve always rolled with the punches, but the past 2 years have really taught me a new level of patience.

Looks like we are headed for another round of tightened travel restrictions. For now, it is from Southern African countries. But, it's likely the variant has already spread well outside that region.
