Brig MPS Bajwa also left a note in Karnal Sher Khan's pocket while handing over his body, citing Khan's valor and asking Pakistan to acknowledge their soldier's bravery. This led to Khan (posthumously) being awarded Pakistan’s highest gallantry award, Nishan-e-Haider in 2009.
