@artiagoitia @sotojuanjo El principal problema es que no es “ceteris paribus”… los equilibrios generales importan muchisimo en este caso. Puede q aumenten inversion, pero disminuyen recaudacion. A quien termina beneficiando este cambio? Afecta a todos x igual? Ese es un analisis que hay q transparentar

@sotojuanjo Tiene tanta evidencia como qla curva de demanda tiene pendiente negativa. La reducción del IC aumenta el VAN de las inversiones, y más proyectos pasan la tasa de corte. Hasta aquí llego con las obviedades. Por supuesto ceteris paribus.

Bajar el impuesto corporativo aumenta la inversión y el crecimiento. Igual es difícil si nunca estudiaste economía, pero es mejor preguntar que tuitear sin tener idea.

@Deslenguada3 No hay ahorro, por lo que justificarlo por ese lado no tiene sentido. Yo no propongo ningun limite arbitrario. Si se cree que recorte en gasto es necesario, la primera pasada no deberia ser a costa de politicas sociales.

@maibennett Si es mínimo, cuál es el ahorro? Propones 28 años?

Cual es el sentido de poner un limite arbitrario a <30 años en gratuidad (solo Us)? Son <2500 estudiantes en primer año el 2025, y eso no impide que esos cupos sean ocupados el prox año por estudiantes sub-30 con gratuidad. El ahorro es mínimo y parece solo show para la galeria

Poniendome al dia con las encuestas (gracias @daniloherrerad!), vamos a cambiar el dicho a “mas feo que diapositiva de Mayol”.

I spent Friday with researchers and practitioners at a @JPAL_NA convening, talking about the value of causal evidence (including RCTs) for making policy work better. A question that came up again and again is how to move forward in this moment of uncertainty about research funding. I’m grateful that @Arnold_Ventures is committed to this policy space, so our funding isn’t going anywhere. And now (via an AV grant) more funding - as well as practitioner-researcher matchmaking - is available from @JPAL_NA as well. I realize that lots of researchers would prefer to do descriptive or qualitative work in the CJ space, or to work in other policy areas entirely. I can’t help there, and do feel for you. But I can offer encouragement and support if you want to join us in testing what works in the crime/CJ space. There is lots of work to do here, and hunger from policymakers for new ideas that are actually effective. I’ll link to our RFP below. If you’re a researcher interested in pivoting into this space/type of work, email me so that we can try to pull you into upcoming events/opportunities.

Nada contra Mando ni doña JK, pero esto de @latercera asume que el fallo de la Corte Suprema británica es “contra” las mujeres trans. Me parece que es una afirmación que requiere más contexto.

Suggestions on best (e.g. good performance, not crazy expensive) VMs where I could run some heavy, one-off, computations in R? I have a total of like 8T of data and I need to combine geospatial data by state (largest state is like 1T). Azure? AWS? All suggestions welcome #rstats
