Ben Pasternak was my first boss.
He’s now one of my closest friends. And he is one of the most genuinely selfless people I have ever met.
This week has shown me how profoundly fake social media, the internet, and viral narratives can be.
Amoungst his close circles, Ben is known for one thing above everything else: sharing the love. He introduces every friend to his favorite doctors, his best therapists, and the healing modalities that changed his life (and they definitely changed mine!). In fact, he’s given so many people to his therapist that she barely even has time for him anymore. That’s just who he is.
I also feel that something important is missing from this story:
Since this broke, Ben has received call after call from other men in tech saying “me too”.
Quietly, privately- because that’s the only way it’s allowed to happen. So many men are suffering through abuse in silence. This pattern exists everywhere in tech, and no one talks about it.
If your entire understanding of a person comes from viral clips designed to perform, you are being manipulated- whether you realize it or not. I hope what comes out of this moment is less hate and more awareness.
Behind every viral moment is a human being.
Sending love to all🤍🪷

@F1related199372 @haseulagenda Frrr. I guess Ben’s PR team is more active on Tiktok cuz the Ha Sisters are active on Tiktok.

@haseulagenda People on x seem to be more critical thinkers. But the people on TikTok are so easily manipulated. They are taking clips of Evelyn fighting with her siblings as proof of her being abusive.

@fwjliu Same here lol, dated Evelyn for 8 months a bit before Fred did. Everything lines up with what Fred has shared and also Ben from todays vid.

I just saw Ben Pasternak’s video. I wasn’t planning to speak publicly, but hearing experiences that felt familiar made staying silent feel wrong.
I was in a relationship with Evelyn years before Ben. During that relationship, I experienced things that were consistent with parts of what Ben described. Including physical violence.
When our relationship ended, a version of events was shared publicly that did not fully reflect my experience. At the time, I chose not to respond. I made that decision for several reasons: I wanted to protect her, I didn’t want to turn a private situation into something public, and I was young and didn’t fully know how to handle the situation.
I’m not here to revisit the past in detail or to speak for anyone else. I’m only sharing this to clarify that my experience and truth did not fully align with the narrative that had been presented.
I stayed quiet for a long time for my own reasons. Speaking now is simply about being honest about what I experienced. Some of what was shared in the video was new information to me, and I’d like to process privately. I’m also sorry for what Ben went through. I hope he has the support he needs.

@badbj176828 @fwjliu Fr. I was like there’s no way Fred would even wanna get involved here, since it just really isn’t his personality at all. Really sus.
