@the_mel_jar Where are my friends tonight? If I could see all my friends tonight....
English

@ChristianityOn @molly_rask Yep. But I think girl w/ girl autism and boy w/ boy autism is incredibly stable. I know multiple very happy "love of my life" marriages like that, they usually get really into Star Wars and D&D together for some reason.
English

@makebelieveleaf @molly_rask I think there comes a point in most autism relationships where the partner must come to terms with the fact that their partner really does have a better disorder and that it really is a disorder
English

@ChristianityOn @molly_rask Hashtag notallautists, but there usually comes a point where they realize you're not going to get the Miss Congeniality makeover and magically become neurotypical for them.
English

@default_friend Are these aughts juniors XXXLs aka men's M?
English

Why do these "I see you" tweets always match the cadence of a Pfizer commercial encouraging me to "ask your doctor If Autisiphan® is right for you. Side effects may include..."
🤠@heavensbvnny
adult women who think they have adhd and/or autism. who feel like they have been screaming into the void for years for help. who feel resistant to treatment for depression. who feel failed by every single adult in their younger lives. who worry that they’re wrong and just lazy. i believe you and you deserve the help you think you deserve
English

@ChristianityOn @molly_rask And by fix his life I mean "help him figure himself out so he can trade up to an NT woman who will actually manage the household for him"
English

@ChristianityOn @molly_rask Zach Braff in Garden State. Zach Braff in anything actually.
Basically any movie with a guy who wants a manic pixie dream girl to fix his life is a boy with girl autism fixating on a girl with boy autism.
English

@molly_rask @ChristianityOn Both of them tbh. Abed is probably one of the most accurate depictions of that type of autism I've seen on screen. Mel even has the right hair and glasses (lol) Saga Norén from Bron was also pretty good.
English

@ChristianityOn @makebelieveleaf I think maybe Mel from The Pitt is the best TV representation of female boy autism. Before that I felt most like Abed. Who would qualify as male girl? That’s the one I’m having trouble envisioning.
English

@TurokX79 >everyone’s a little autistic
To the tune of Avenue Q's "Everyone's a Little Bit Racist"
English

@makebelieveleaf It was either you’re not autistic cause X, or everyone’s a little autistic…
Examples of X:
Your chin is too defined
You just have really low self esteem
You’ve done Y (Don’t get me started on Y)
English

@molly_rask @ChristianityOn Most of my close friends have been men so that tracks!
English

@ChristianityOn @makebelieveleaf Yeah I’m an autistic woman with this presentation, and I share this observation. I enjoy spending time with autistic women, but usually the people who understand me intuitively are autistic men.
English

@richmondie We've all had days like that! I didn't understand where you were coming from initially either, and once we got on the same page we understood each other. Most people dig in their heels to save face, you didn't. Which is proof you're a good egg.
English

@makebelieveleaf Ha ha! I've become rather sensitive. Suddenly everybody has a take!
English

@nomanautomata I don't think people come to LW with a fully fleshed out understanding of Yudkowsky-ism
English

@makebelieveleaf But in that case it's not being "swept along," it's about joining a group that already agrees with you.
English

@richmondie This wasn't meant as a subtweet, I'm sorry if it came off that way - just an observation because this keeps happening, and it's interesting how the perception has changed.
Two autistic people misunderstanding each other is the most autistic thing that can happen tbh - we're good
English

@ChristianityOn That's like an uncommon in an Aspergers only pack, but at least a rare in a standard pack.
English

@makebelieveleaf There is like a 4:1 male to female ratio in this particular phenotype
English

@ChristianityOn Maybe rarer in women? Because it's less common in women in general and the new cohort is mostly women with a very... different presentation.
English

@makebelieveleaf I don't think we are all that rare. I think that autism discourse has evolved in a way that has left us behind because no one really wants to be like this. Being a weird nerd who can't relate to people and lives in a world of systemizing doesn't market very well.
English

@richmondie 😂
I get mistaken for a guy all the time online because my writing style lacks softeners, compresses a lot of info into very few words, and many of those words are 5 dollar words. This is actually how I speak iRL too (and at 1.25 speed haha) - you're not alone in finding it odd
English

@makebelieveleaf If you're like that, it must be girl autism... I am not an academic! 😄
English

@makebelieveleaf it’s totally fine if you prefer describing your own experience as “inflexible thinking” but i think we should allow other autistic people to describe their experience in the way that rings most true for them
