Why doesn't America have a competitive 3D printer company? is the real question here. The answer is: Stratasys camped on all the FDM patents for 30 years and stifled the market by marking up printers 100x or more. The parent system that mainland China ignores.

Post on the forum from 5 days ago says they are shutting down the forum and have a surplus auction going.. Looked up the auction details and it lists an address that appears to be a few buildings/units over from Makergear headquarters.....
