ARRAIGNMENT OF SUSPECT ARRESTED WITH 255KG OF CANNABIS SATIVA IN KILIFI A 29-year-old suspected drug trafficker, Winfred Nkatha, has been arraigned before the Malindi Law Courts following her arrest and the recovery of 255 kilogrammes of Cannabis sativa during an intelligence-led operation in Jimba area, Kilifi County. The suspect pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted a surety bond of Ksh 2 million with no option of cash bail. The case is scheduled for mention on April 23, 2026, for pre-trial directions. Her arrest resulted from a targeted operation conducted by detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) in Malindi, in collaboration with officers from Watamu Police Station. Acting on credible intelligence, the team raided a residential house along Mwatela Road, off the Watamu–Gede Road. Upon entry, the officers found the suspect inside the house. A thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of eight sacks containing rolls of dry plant material wrapped in khaki paper, suspected to be cannabis.
