@FinPlanKaluAja1 Nigerians can afford higher tariffs, they pay more using fuel and diesel right now than if they were on band A. Citizens can also learn to manage consumption of electricity.

I am not an expert in power, but this is my understanding. I would like to know whether power experts agree or disagree. This is my summary 1. Nigeria needs massive investment in power infrastructure 2. Nigeria and Nigerians can't fund this investment because it's in USD; turbines and natural gas 3. To attract investment in Nigerian power, the tariffs paid by the Nigerian consumers have to go up. 4. Nigerian consumers can't afford higher power tariffs. 5. In other nations, the government will subsidize the power cost via subsidies, so that consumers can pay lower today but higher tomorrow as they boost consumption and investment due to power availability. 6. Nigeria also subsidized power to consumers via the Multi-Year Tariff Order MYTO); however, as the MYTO is winding down, the consumers' incomes have fallen, thus it's very hard to raise power tariffs 7. If tariffs don't rise, investors or $ won't come 8. If investors don't come, power generation and distribution will not improve, meaning fewer users of grid power and a higher average power cost. 9. The critical issue is the cost of power paid by consumers, and thus tariffs guardian.ng/news/rising-en…

@IgumaScott I know people who are working remotely from Nigeria for companies in USA and are paid handsomely. I put it to you that Moniepoint pay is bad this is why he is unable to secure workers outside Nigeria for his 500 vacancy. He wants quality but the pay will be substandard.

O dear 🤦🏽. Mr Scott Iguma, am disappointed in your analysis. Self hate is a serious problem in black culture. The same Nigerians many people dismiss at home move abroad and become respected doctors, IT professionals, engineers, academics, and business leaders in places like the UK, Canada and America. Maybe I should start a YouTube channel highlighting Nigerians doing exceptionally well overseas. It raises an important question; that if Nigerians can thrive abroad, why do so many struggle within Nigeria itself? A quick look through LinkedIn shows thousands of Nigerians trained in Nigerian schools now succeeding globally across medicine, technology, finance, and engineering. The talent was always there. Nigeria does not lack intelligent or capable people. What we lack are systems that reward competence, integrity, innovation, and hard work. Nigerians must reject this culture of self hate, as Nigerians are not the problem. The environment and systems often are the issue. Innoson Motor, Coscharis, Dangote, MTN. Nicon Hilton abuja and so many more companies are run by Nigerians.

It’s the price of being in the arena. You will look stupid at some point to someone/some people. If you’re not willing to pay that price, just sit at home. But to sit at home out of fear of looking stupid and then dedicate one’s time/life to calling out the stupidity of those in the arena is loser behavior and anyone who’s ever built anything can spot the loser stench from a mile off.
Toyyib✨@RitoleeXX

@jadeosiberu It's also okay to admit that if you look stupid while at it, it's one of the perk that comes with it.

Your politicians will sell your resources out to Australians. Australians will use it to develop their land. You'll now go to their embassy and beg for visa. They'll give you. You'll now leave all your family and friends in squalor and go to labour for their economy. 😭

Here are facts: This speaks to the fact that our leaders are by far unaware of or probably pretend not to be aware of the suffering of the vast majority of Nigerians, including the majority of their supporters. According to the Finance Minister, only about 5% of Nigerians have savings of ₦500,000 or more in their accounts. Nigeria’s minimum wage is one of the smallest in the world. In fact, Nigeria is among the top 10 countries with the lowest minimum wage in the world. According to the World Bank, there are about 140 million Nigerians living below $3 a day. Yet, our number one lawmaker says that Nigerians once begged to buy fuel at ₦10,000. How many Nigerians can afford it at that rate? Again, the near-total unawareness or pretense of our leaders regarding the real realities of the majority of Nigerians is one of our greatest problems.

@afrisagacity Well technically if he removed those subsidies, he has more money to pay back the loans. Loans arent inherently bad. All governments take loans.

Tinubu… How on earth did you remove petrol subsidy, electricity subsidy, increase all taxes, introduce new tax sources, increase custom duty, and borrow the most debt in the shortest time… Yet, you couldn’t fund the capital projects in the 2023, 2024, 2025 budgets? How!✍️
