@athleticroars @DataAthletic @juanmaironman none of the head coaches were able to solve this problem. Neither Berizzo nor Garitano, Marcelino and even not really Valverde since he made his comeback as head coach in 2022. So I hope that a new head coach, whoever it might be, can solve this problem. 2/2

@athleticroars @DataAthletic @juanmaironman When I watched matches in the past years (live in stadium or at streaming at home), it was always the problem that Athletic Club wasted too many corner attempts for scoring a goal. I don't remember exactly when this started (maybe at the beginning of the Ziganda era), but 1/2

Set pieces: Athletic has scored ONE goal this season from set-piece plays. Last season 11 goals came this way. Not a single goal has come from corners. We've had 157 corner attempts. We used to be feared for this. Dramatic to say the least. [per @DataAthletic & @juanmaironman]

@athleticroars @SkySportDE Personally, I prefer Iraola. He's the most experienced head coach of all basque candidates, which can be signed. Íñigo Pérez sounds interesting, but will he manage that the players perform like last season for example?

Edin Terzic, the favourite to replace Ernesto Valverde next season, per @SkySportDE. I think it's a nice option to have someone from outside the Basque sphere help wake up the established "stars" and extract the most out of them, but... Iraola? Iñigo Perez? Etc... Thoughts?

Valverde steps down as head coach. The actual season is really bad, but apart from this, he had won the Copa 2024 and led Athletic Club back to European football in two consecutive years. So thank you Coach for these achievements.

@athleticroars I don't know in general if loanees are allowed to play against their clubs but Rincón has a clausula in his loan contract that if he's not playing a defined amount of matches this season Girona has to pay a fine to Athletic Club.

I'm not even exaggerating, we are not LaLiga worthy right now. At least a couple seasons ago we would've deservedly been much closer to relegation positions. For me Valverde's sacking now would benefit Athletic more than hurt. And also, why is Rincon allowed to play against us?

Today's defeat doesn't worry me much, but in view of the last five games of the season, three points would have been great. By May, we should actually have a solid cushion on the relegation places.
