Lost my wedding band at mens softball tonight. Quietly told the boys. Next thing I know, my entire team and a team from an earlier game got flashlights on searching the park. We found it within 3min. There’s still good in this world. And I’m still a dumbass.

one of the cutest and saddest things that happened towards the end of my grandfather's life is his dementia got so bad that he kept getting mad at my grandmother for being around because "his wife wouldn't appreciate him being alone with another woman."

There’s an elderly woman who lives two doors down from me. Every morning she sits by her window with the blinds half open, watching people leave for work. I started waving to her. One day she waved back and motioned for me to come over. Her husband died three years ago, her friends slowly stopped calling, and her kids moved far away. She told me she keeps the window open because it reminds her she’s still part of the world. Now I stop by once a week just to drink tea with her. Last time I left, she said, “Thank you for reminding me I still exist.” I cried the entire walk home.

You won’t realize this until you’re married. But every year you spend unmarried when you’re an adult, is an utter and complete waste of time. Marriage is where your life truly begins. You hyper focus on what matters, which projects matter, which is work matters, and of course you have more time and youth to give to your children. Every vacation is sweeter and more meaningful. Every memory can be kept with confidence. Marriage is where life begins. It’s strange to put that off. Like suffocating yourself for transient things.
