This is so true. I really don’t understand why people force sibling reconciliation. Just like you said, there are certain siblings that, in your best interest, you must cut off. I was telling someone yesterday morning, before I made this tweet, that some families aren’t everything. I have seen a brother treat another brother in ways that even an enemy wouldn’t. Some siblings are worse than enemies. Even while growing up, through all the shenanigans, you notice a sibling who constantly turns you against your parents so you’ll get punished, against friends, even against other siblings. But you keep overlooking it, blaming it on youthful exuberance, pardoning them because, after all, they are family, while it’s been clearly written on the wall that they literally hate you.

1. Some siblings secretly compete with you and pray you don’t outgrow them. They want to be the only successful ones so they get to control everyone else. 2. “Family is everything” is one of the most manipulative statements ever created. 3. Blood does not automatically equal loyalty. Some friends can be everything good your siblings couldn’t be. 4. Parents unconsciously create rivalry by obvious favoritism. 5. Jealousy between siblings is more common than love. 6. Once parents die, some siblings drift apart permanently. 7. The most successful sibling often becomes the family’s ATM. 8. Sometimes distance improves sibling relationships. 9. The one who sacrifices the most is rarely appreciated. 10. The “black sheep” is often just the most honest one. 11. The “strong one” in the family rarely gets checked on. 12. The eldest child is often a free experimental parent. 13. The last born is sometimes overprotected into incompetence. 14. Growing up together does not mean you actually know each other. Some siblings are literally strangers bonded by blood. 15. Family gatherings can be performance, not connection. 16. The family WhatsApp group might just be the only time siblings truly get to vibe and connect. 17. Your siblings’ children are your children. You should refer to them the same way you refer to your own kids, instead of calling them nephews and nieces, which somehow creates distance. 18. It doesn’t make sense for one person in a family to be stinking rich while the others are struggling. If you succeed financially, help set up everyone in your family instead of making them dependent on you. 19. Try to stay alive. Nobody can take care of your kids like you, not even your siblings. 20. When sharing property or family wealth is involved, that’s when you truly see the colors of your siblings.
