HOT RECOMMENDATION! #Disney-#Pixar's #Hoppers is a cannon-blast of colour, chaos and creativity delivered with clinical command over craft. Unlike some of the studio's classics like #Ratatouille, #InsideOut out and #Coco, this isn't a film that threatens your tear ducts or lands emotional punches to the gut. Instead, it's content to be a zippy, zany comedy that consistently aces both slapstick and highbrow humour. Animation as a medium naturally lends itself to unbridled, unhinged storytelling and here's a film that makes full use of it's versatility. This is sure to play like gangbusters to packed cinema halls with the adults likely guffawing much harder than the kids. Cheekily ripping off #Avatar's core concept of transferring the consciousness to another body, this smart screenplay blends biblical themes, brave beavers and one diabolical caterpillar in a fabulous eco-friendly fable. 4.25/5 @Pixar @DisneyStudiosIN

So many of our beloved stars and icons have deservedly been hailed and praised👏👍 At this joyous juncture I wish to throw light on a very important department which is often overlooked and taken for granted- Dubbing. So many talented dubbing artistes work tirelessly behind the scenes to give voice and life to countless characters we've grown to love. It's commendable that our TN state honours these unsung heroes with richly deserving awards. My hearty congrats to @manasimm and all others honoured under this crucial category 👌👏👍

Caught up with the #MankathaReRelease. I don't want to review a 15-year old blockbuster but couldn't resist sharing some thoughts.👇 I think there's no other film quite like #Mankatha in the history of Indian cinema. That's a bold claim to make, isn't it? Hear me out. The most obvious reason for me to say so would be because the "hero" is actually a despicable villain.. very uncommon.. right? Not quite. You see, nearly all our beloved superstars would have played a villain at least once in their careers.. but it comes with a catch. They've only ever slotted into one of the three following sets. FIRST SET- This "villain" will be a ruffian/law-breaker but will have some redeeming quality.. something sweet or good or a larger selfless cause which will justify those transgressions. They might even have a conscience and give in to relationships and sentimentality. SECOND SET- They could be all black, totally unlikeable and irredeemable.. but in those cases the same superstar will quell the negativity and villainy of this character by playing another character who opposes him with righteous vigour. The famed double role. History is littered with many such examples. THIRD SET- IF the villain played by a superstar doesn't slot into either of the first two sets, here's a less common third set. The wickedness and cruelty will have a price. The character will pay either with his life or will lose everything in the end with karma catching up and punishing him for his misdeeds. Then there's the gloriously unique Vinayak from Mankatha. He does everything a big mass hero must never do. -He cheats on his girlfriend in a drunken daze. -Spouts lies in the name of love and uses her for personal gain. -Drinks endlessly and smokes like a chimney. -Has no morals and ethics and is totally fine double crossing and killing those who trust him. -Bad mouths women in the most vile and shocking way. - Shamelessly materialistic and wants to get rich without working for it. Also slips into an unhinged frenzy, the kind which film characters do before meeting their doom. ..And amazingly, he gets away with it.. all of it. He wins. There's no justice for the good folks he hurts or kills. There are no parallels for this in our cinema. Shocking to think of, even today. This is unfair on so many levels but the film works because of the conviction and raw charisma with which #AjithKumar plays this character. Man, he sells the hell out of it. The sheer nerve to take up such a film as your milestone 50th demands a separate deconstruction. You can like the film or hate it but you gotta marvel at the sheer audacity of #ThalaAjith. Kudos to #VenkatPrabhu for not flinching/giving in to cliché and sticking the landing.👏👌 ..and oh. How can I not mention the grey hair. Again, Ajith lead the way. "I'm a mass hero but I'm 40 and I have grey hair. Deal with it." Pioneering. Iconic.🔥 @sunpictures #Thala50 @vp_offl @SureshChandraa

I saw this "highest footfalls" list on X and wanted to point out a couple of things which I found noteworthy. I did some research online and the list seems inclusive, authentic and free of bias. Of course we can never be a 100% sure, as Indian box office stats aren't always official and tend to wildly vary depending on the source. #Bollywood(Hindi cinema) is represented the most with 15 entries. #AamirKhan leads with 4 of his films making the cut- #Ghajini, #PK, #Dhoom3 and #Dangal.👍 #Tollywood(Telugu cinema) follows second with 6 entries. #Prabhas leads with 3 of his films getting in- #Bahubali, #Bahubali2 and #Saaho. 👍 #Sandalwood(Kannada cinema) has just one entry- that being #KGFChapter2 starring #Yash.👍 The remaining four slots are taken up by #Kollywood(Tamil cinema) and ALL FOUR are fronted by the same man- #SuperstarRajinikanth. 👏👌 They are #chandramukhi, #SivajiTheBoss, #Enthiran/#Robot and #2.0/#2pointO. I do not know when another tamil film will enter this list but I won't be surprised if it's yet again a project fronted by #Rajinikanth. A career spanning 50 plus years and he's operated at Tier-1 for the vast majority of it.🔥👏🙏 Ps- I have high hopes for #Jailer2 and would have definitely backed it to crack this list for 2026, if not for #Dhurandhar2 and #RamayanaPart1. Yes, #King will also be a serious contender.

The producers have officially shared that #Parasakthi has entered the 100 crore gross club worldwide, the first tamil film to do so in 2026. This might still be construed as an underperformance by some people who had higher expectations from the film but I do not want to take this impressive number for granted. The reason for that is simple. I do not know when and from where the next sure-shot 100 crore grosser is gonna come from for Kollywood. With #JanaNayagan caught up in trouble and turmoil there's no other film on the immediate horizon guaranteed to reach/surpass this number. So let's just acknowledge how rare/precious it is.👍 I've been reading posts all over X praising #SivaKartikeyan's box office consistency and I couldn't agree more. He reportedly has 5 films in the 100 crore club and 10 which crossed 50 crore within Tamilnadu. Those stats are TERRIFIC for someone who is just 25 films old and has been in the industry for less than 15 years.👏👌 With all due respect to his peers and seniors these numbers are nearly unparalleled for a tier-2 star. Tamil cinema needs more such bankable actors who pull in minimum guarantee numbers irrespective of product quality. I hope #Amaran's 300 crore plus gross wasn't an outlier or a fluke. I'm backing #SK to replicate it's success and someday breach the elite Tier-1 club which is already thinly populated and under threat of losing a valued member. For now, let's just appreciate how remarkably reliable @Siva_Kartikeyan has been.👍

#AvatarFireAndAsh has already climbed up to #24 on the list of highest grossing films of all time. Could easily crack the top 15 by the time it completes it's run. All the hand-wringing done about these #Avatar movies not having a big enough cultural footprint/online presence(like #StarWars or the #MCU) is restricted to a very vocal minority. The larger general audience who frequent movies don't care deeply about the opinions of film pundits, nerds and geeks. They've shown up in MASSIVE numbers for all 3 of these films. The reason for that is simple. These movies offer BIG eye-popping IMAX spectacle, the scale of which still remains rare. It also helps that the storytelling is almost always engaging with solid emotional beats. If you live somewhere with access to an #IMAX screen go catch the film before it's too late. We are not realising just how good we have it and how we're taking @JimCameron's crazy hard work and mind-numbing mastery for granted. #JamesCameron @zoesaldana

The production design and locales are a feast for the eyes.
