@jodiecongirl No. It affects the dopamine receptors. It takes the joy away from eating, so you truly only eat when hungry. There is a reason they are also studying its use with people who struggle with alcohol and drug addiction.

not to step into this hornet's nest, and I have no opinion on GLP-1s, but is this actually true? in other words, are the drugs just an appetite tool (affecting calories in) or are they also affecting metabolic processes (changing calories out)?

@jodiecongirl I’m not on a GLP-1 but I am on something called Phentemine. Essentially it does raise my resting metabolic rate, and greatly curbs cravings for junk food and constant idle snacking. It gives me an ability I didn’t have before which is to approach food with a level headed approach

We have government officials who swear their oaths of office with a hand on the Bible. In American courts, witnesses put their hand on the Bible and swear to tell the truth, so help them God. God is explicitly mentioned in the Pledge of Allegiance: "one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." This nation was built on Christian values. Many of our foundational laws draw directly from the Ten Commandments, including: - Thou shalt not kill (basis for murder laws) - Thou shalt not steal (basis for theft laws) - Thou shalt not bear false witness (basis for perjury laws) - Honor thy father and mother (influencing family and societal order) Our Declaration of Independence itself recognizes rights "endowed by their Creator." A simple Good Friday reflection from DHS honoring a solemn Christian observance isn't "inappropriate", it's part of acknowledging America's heritage. Freedom of religion doesn't mean erasing it from the public square. This isn't Iran; it's the United States, where faith has always been woven into our national fabric.

As a Catholic, I’ve never needed my workplace to host a Mass. There are places called churches for that.

Apparently a lot of journalists in Washington DC need to hear this. Catholics are in no way offended when they are not invited to a Protestant prayer service that has literally nothing in common with the liturgy that takes place on Good Friday in Catholic churches everywhere.
