I do more in a day than you do in a week. I do remote work at night, teach online classes during the day, and homeschool my kid. I serve on several committees and host weekly homeschool teen events. I also don't sit in bed and watch TV for 8 hours a day. We ain't the same.

I'm sick of passive aggressive comments from those who know I work overnight, i.e., "some of us have to work in the morning, can't stay up all night and sleep in." Like I'm, what? Doing nothing??

He’s been "working out" every night for three months. He comes home smelling like expensive soap, claiming the gym showers are just "that good." He didn't realize that when I took the car for an oil change, the mechanic accidentally reset the dashcam—which also happened to sync the last week of footage to the cloud. I didn't see him at the gym. I saw him parked in front of my former best friend’s apartment, handing her a key. My spare key. I didn't mention it at dinner. I just asked how his "leg day" went. The next day, while he was at work, I hired a locksmith. Not for our house—for hers. I showed the locksmith the "proof of residence" (a utility bill I’d intercepted) and told him I’d lost my keys. Once the locks were changed, I put his gym bag and all his shoes inside her hallway. Then, I sent a group text to him and her: "Since you love her place so much, I figured I’d make sure you could never leave. Your stuff is inside. The spare key you gave her doesn't work anymore, and neither does the one to my house. Hope the 'gym' was worth the workout." I blocked them both before the first "typing..." bubble appeared.

I wholeheartedly agree! I used @DAMendelsohnNYC's translation in the older teen mythology course I teach and they were obsessed. Accessible while still honoring the epic in it's truest form. I've never had students that engaged with The Odyssey until his translation.

This stopped me in my tracks. Lots of therapy and shadow work over the last 3-4 years made me sit with the realization that past me's need to be needed - to my own detriment - meant I became a project, a target for others' projections, or a case study. Growth reveals SO much.
