@ZacGoodman_ How many days a week do you do Plyometrics? We do some everyday and some of my Big guys that squat a lot are have some knee issues.

You don’t build speed… You sharpen speed. Speed Training is simply sharpening Maximal Strength you already have access to. You teach the body to HOW to coordinate what it already structurally has at a fiber level.

We don’t split our strength work into heavy days and speed days. We use dynamic effort first in sessions for RFD, then build strength with Brief Maximal Tension and round out with repeated effort. This is done every session all year round.
Mike Worthington@manmaker55

@ZacGoodman_ So you going heavy twice a week instead of heavy once then speed another like west side?

@manmaker55 We measure it all on the OVR Jump and track each input. Then it allows us to track trends of it in regards to changes in body weight, maximal strength, jumps, sprint speeds. It all connects for us.

We use the standard drop jump RSI, Short Hurdles, and Pogo Jumps. We use them before we sprint 2x a week to potentiate the feet, ankles, raise body temperature and prime CNS. This also allows us to microdose meaningful elastic work year round. Elasticity takes TIME
Mike Worthington@manmaker55

@ZacGoodman_ Explain your RSI test ?

If there’s not a large discrepancy between a DB Jump and Vertical Jump its always the Feet/Ankles. You can see this clearly with an RSI test. Athletes must address the strength and elasticity below the knee to realize power above the knee.

One of my favorite Ankle/Feet exercises… Tip Toe Walks. This exercise puts the ankles/feet in flexion and makes them work extremely hard to maintain stiffness per step. We will use those towards the end of sessions for time 30-45 seconds. Progressing load or time per week.
