Jugar la semana previa de un Grand Slam tiene estas cosas, que luego puedes pagar el peaje físico y la falta de adaptación. Esta derrota entraba dentro de lo lógico. Con mejor Ranking, el Colo le pegará duro en Roland Garros los siguientes años.

Today I am sharing a new oil painting on canvas, nearly five feet tall, of Chicomexochitl, the young Lord of Corn, rising from the waters of the underworld upon the back of a turtle. Among Nahua communities in the Huasteca, it is said that Chicomexochitl was killed by His grandmother, who ground His body into masa and cast Him into the river. There the fishes gathered His scattered body and restored Him to life. A turtle emerged from the waters and carried Him back toward the surface. As He rode upon her shell, He painted her back with flowers. This story is a metaphor for the life of corn itself. The Earth destroys the maize again and again through flood, drought, hunger, and decay, yet the corn is always reborn. The river is the underworld, like the seed buried beneath the soil. The turtle is the Earth who nourishes and carries the corn back toward life. When Chicomexochitl paints her shell with flowers, the rains of summer have returned. The flowers bloom, and the corn rises beside them. In my painting, He raises His brush toward the turtle’s shell as flowers burst forth around them. The fishes who restored Him to life swim through the waters beside them. The painting is still unfinished. I have decided to continue adding more flowers, fishes, and details over time. For now, it is on display at @Art VallARTa in Puerto Vallarta.
