In the wake of the horrific terrorist attack on the Islamic Center of San Diego, our heartfelt prayers and deepest sympathies are with the Sindhi community of San Diego and all those affected by this tragedy. At moments like these, we must stand united against hatred, violence, and extremism in all its forms. We pray for the safety, healing, and strength of the entire community, and for peace and harmony to prevail over fear and division. May the Almighty protect all innocent lives and grant comfort to the families and loved ones impacted by this senseless act 😢🙏

The origin of the term Cheti Chand comes from “چيٽ” (Cheṭ), which denotes the month marking the arrival of spring in the traditional Sindhi calendar. In contrast, “ڪَتي” (Kati) marks the beginning of autumn. These seasonal markers reflect the deep agrarian and ecological rhythms that historically shaped life in Sindh. For centuries, such seasonal transitions were observed not merely as climatic changes, but as cultural and communal milestones, embedded in the social and spiritual traditions of the region. Consequently, Cheti Chand evolved as a celebration of renewal, prosperity, and the cyclical rebirth of nature. Importantly, this festival has historically been observed by Sindhis of diverse religious backgrounds, reflecting the inclusive and pluralistic character of Sindhi civilization. The celebrations have been particularly prominent in the “وچ” (Middle) and “لاڻ” (Lower) regions of Sindh, where the agricultural calendar and local customs closely followed these seasonal cycles. Thus, Cheti Chand is not only a religious observance associated with the birth of Jhulelal, revered as a powerful symbol of revival, resilience, and spiritual renewal, but also a civilizational marker of the Sindhi cultural calendar, symbolizing the harmony between nature, community, and tradition in our beloved motherland of Sindh.

It is time for Sindhis to ask ourselves:
“Why is it so that Sindh is the only province where the only qualification for being appointed the Governor is the inability to speak in Sindhi”.
Will there ever come a time when we will have a Sindhi speaking governor of Sindh. If this is not apartheid. Then what is the definition of Apartheid ???

Dear Friends,
Let all of us commemorate with immense gratitude today, March 4th, as a historic and solemn day in the national struggle of the people of Sindh for the preservation of their identity, language, culture, and rights. March 4th occupies a significant place in Sindh’s modern history. On this day, students and citizens of Sindh stood up courageously to defend the dignity and rights of their homeland. Their voices represented a collective demand for justice, cultural recognition, and respect for Sindh’s historical and civilizational heritage. The sacrifices made during this movement remain etched in the memory of our nation. This day reminds us that the strength of Sindh has always come from the courage of its people, especially its youth, who refused to remain silent in the face of injustice. Their commitment helped shape an enduring spirit of resilience that continues to inspire Sindhis around the world. As members of the global Sindhi diaspora, it is our responsibility not only to remember these sacrifices but also to carry forward the values for which they stood: dignity, tolerance, pluralism, and the protection of Sindh’s language and culture for future generations. SANA remains committed to promoting awareness of Sindh’s history, preserving our cultural heritage, and strengthening unity among Sindhis worldwide. On this day, we pay tribute to all those who stood with courage and conviction in defense of Sindh. Their legacy will continue to guide us as we work toward a future where Sindh’s identity, rights, and heritage are preserved with honor.

This photograph was taken on March 12th, 1992, at Heathrow Airport, London with my beloved brother Dr. Munawar Halepoto, our cousin Dost Mohammad Halepoto, and our family friend Late Gul Mohammed Sahto, father of Adi Fatima Gul. They had come to see me off after I had spent three days in London, on my journey from Karachi to New York, in search of a career and a future in the United States. I did not know then what the road ahead would hold. I only carried hope, faith, and the blessings of my elders. Looking back today, I realize that this moment was not just a farewell at an airport, it was the beginning of a lifelong journey shaped by support from family and friends, sacrifice, and dreams that crossed oceans. Forever grateful for those who stood beside me at the very start. ❤️🙏

Dear Friends,
The same mindset that divided India in 1947 and Pakistan in 1971 is now openly calling for the division of our beloved motherland, Sindh. This represents one of the greatest existential threats to a land that has been our home for thousands of years. Today, more than ever, we must remain informed, united, and vigilant. I humbly urge you to please join this important webinar to learn how we can protect Sindh’s identity, rights, and future. Kindly encourage your family members and friends to participate as well. It is our collective responsibility to spread this message as widely as possible. Let us rise above our petty differences and stand together for the sake of our motherland 🙏
