What a good morning. Woke up to an email letting me know that I have won a big global award. Unfortunately like the last UN anti-corruption award I won, they have said that I can’t talk about it specifically until the day the award is presented. These awards give us the strength to continue with our work regardless of the many moments that we feel demoralised by the ensuing repressive realities around us. They make us realise that someone is watching our work quietly, and that they appreciate what we are doing. No man is an island, no man would succeed without wananchi who give him the back up to do what he does. It is through the people that we succeed, and it is through the people that we get our honour, and we should go back to the same people when the show music has stopped playing. Jamaicans have a saying, dance a-yard before you dance abroad! It literally means that your work should start at home before you make it elsewhere. I guess these international awards mean that I have also been honoured in Zimbabwe, because I couldn’t have made it abroad without the support of my people! Each time I win an award, I take it to Glen Norah where I grew up to inspire the youths. The young people there only ask me one question; Ine bag here mudhara? It is a sign of the times we are in, it shows how broken they have become, all they can think of is where they will get their next dollar in a 50 cents. This financial poverty has created a people dependent on handovers from political elites where people have been made to feel indebted to them. So when anyone perceived to be well to do goes into these communities, the first question they ask is “….matiunzira chiyi.” So when we write these stories about how our people have been beaten down by these political realities, the ruling party gets angry and subject us to vile attacks criminalising awards as a western tool accessory. So once in a while when this professional recognition comes, it gives you the confidence to continue with what you are doing. Those opposed to what we do know it, that is why they try to use it to attack is and ridicule our work to undermine our efforts for a better society.

RETWEET I know that flying home just to cast your vote can be a financially expensive pursuit. However there is something even better that you can do if you can’t fly home to vote. Check with your local candidates if they have agents, food for the agents and airtime. Assisting them can save more votes from being stolen, and save the country from further collapsing. This is not about a political party, this is about whether you will continue sending money to Zimbabwe for basic things like healthcare for another 5 years for your family. Do the right thing, help in safeguarding the vote, every vote counts, and every vote is a step towards a better future. RETWEET

The Daily Market is now open. This is an initiative to help small businesses get visibility using my social media platforms. Advertise the goods and services that you are selling here for free. People usually respond quickly to adverts with phone numbers and prices. Do due diligence if you are a buyer, I am not responsible for any transactions that ensue, I am only providing a platform. It will help you reach more people if you RETWEET this tweet after posting your advert in the comments section. Happy selling and buying!

The internet service provider Star-link has internet speeds which are 3 times faster than what we have in Zimbabwe. It hasn’t been licensed yet in Zimbabwe. When it is licensed, it will cost US$449 to buy the kit and a monthly subscription fee of around US$50. 6 African countries have licenses Star-link including Mozambique and Zambia. If you buy the kit in Zambia, the monthly cost will be US$150 because it will be a roaming package. What stands between you having access to a cheaper US$50 package is the Government and the internet companies that are lobbying Government not to give Star-link a license. Star-link will reduce the cost of doing business significantly in Zimbabwe and will allow many rural areas to be connected to the internet because it doesn’t come with wires, it is just a small kit which you put together yourself. Look at Star-link as a mobile phone and the internet we have in Zimbabwe as a landline phone. Will Zimbabwe lag behind as the rest of the world gets connected to a more reliable and faster internet service which doesn’t need digging or engineers coming to your home?

Easter is a Christian holiday. Celebrations focus on the resurrection of Jesus Christ.2000 yrs ago, He died on a cross, was buried, and 3 days later rose to life. The meaning of Easter is that the He paid the price for our sins and rose again to reconcile us to God (Romans 4:25).

2. The merciless Looting and Plundering is at unprecedented levels. The circus leader is unmoved by exposures, determined to put on a brave shameless face, while being impervious to reason. President (however you got there), begin to manage your exit for the sake of the Nation.
