Have we in human history ever seen anything like this?
It is 2:50 a.m. The sound of bombardment still echoes in the distance, and sleep feels impossible. While my family tries to rest through another difficult night of displacement, I remain awake thinking about how to provide for them, how to help the four vulnerable families who rely on assistance, and how to continue carrying responsibilities that seem heavier with each passing day. For many months, I have done my best to support displaced families, patients, and children in need. Today, however, I find myself in need of support as well. My family and I are displaced, living through the same uncertainty and hardship that countless families in Gaza face every day. At the same time, I am a Master's student struggling to continue my education while accumulated university fees continue to grow. My greatest concern is my sister, Zein, who has cerebral palsy. She urgently needs proper nutrition, ongoing care, medication, and essential daily supplies. Meeting these needs has become incredibly difficult under the current circumstances. I am trying to raise $1,000 to help support my family, assist four families who are struggling to secure food and basic necessities, cover part of my university fees, and provide for Zein's medical and daily needs. Today, my friend’s aunt passed away after suffering from a severe skin disease that has spread in a terrifying way among displaced people living in tents. This is not the first case. The number of cases is increasing day after day, and the situation is spiraling out of control. We are living among tents that have turned into breeding grounds for diseases, with unbearable heat, severe water shortages, and a complete lack of hygiene. What has been dropped on us in the form of missiles and destruction has not only left destroyed cities and ruined homes, but has also created a health catastrophe that continues to haunt those who survived. Diseases are spreading, and hospitals are unable to save people due to the shortage of doctors, medical equipment, and medicines. There are people who become sick today and then wait without treatment until their condition deteriorates before everyone’s eyes. Some are not losing their lives because of the disease alone, but because there is no one available to save them. And the world does not see the scale of the catastrophe happening in Gaza right now. While we are dying here under bombardment and disease, the world’s attention is focused on other events, as if our lives have become nothing more than numbers in the news.
