Just spoke to @POTUS about our European allies’ unwillingness to provide assets to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning, which benefits Europe far more than America. I have never heard him so angry in my life. I share that anger given what’s at stake. The arrogance of our allies to suggest that Iran with a nuclear weapon is of little concern and that military action to stop the ayatollah from acquiring a nuclear bomb is our problem not theirs is beyond offensive. The European approach to containing the ayatollah’s nuclear ambitions have proven to be a miserable failure. The repercussions of providing little assistance to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning are going to be wide and deep for Europe and America. I consider myself very forward-leaning on supporting alliances, however at a time of real testing like this, it makes me second guess the value of these alliances. I am certain I am not the only senator who feels this way.

@milianstx I rejected them a couple of times, as they wanted to get implemented in Thorwallet. Some big “DeFi” wallets and swap aggregators use them, claiming to be DeFi. Very dangerous for users. It’s a prime example why some regulation for CeFi (which they are), can make sense.

One of the more misleading marketing claims in crypto comes from instant cryptocurrency exchanges. ChangeNOW, Changelly, SimpleSwap, and the like. Calling themselves “non-custodial” while literally taking custody of funds during execution does not make sense. You send funds to an address they control. From that point, control over the transaction flow is no longer yours. They can freeze funds, delay execution, request KYC mid-swap, or in some cases, retain the funds entirely. No account ≠ non-custodial. Temporary custody is still custody. And if you’re not willing to provide KYC, proof of funds, or proof of address if requested, or if the exchange has gone rogue, “temporary custody” can quickly become indefinite. I understand the intent behind “non-custodial” may be to distinguish from exchanges that hold user balances between trades, but it’s not the right term for what is actually happening.

This is great to see…. But it almost feels tha unless a crowd like finance, Coinbase or someone major, integrates it fully, it’s just not going to propel they way we want it!?? I’ve been sitting on thorchain must be 6 years now…and with all the tech etc all the integrations… It’s at unbelievable lows!!!! What do you think it’ll take?

After over four years building THORChain, I’m starting a new chapter. I’m joining @NEARProtocol to build NEAR Intents, focusing on BD & growth. This is a conviction bet on DeFi, Privacy, AI, and the NEAR team. I couldn’t be more excited to join a strong ecosystem of builders. I think NEAR has several advantages that will help us accelerate the next wave of DeFi adoption (and far beyond) through Intents: 1) Market structure: There is no single unified marketplace. Instead, a competitive solver network sources the best price from anywhere. Competition is the edge. It’s why NEAR achieves strong price execution and continues to improve as the network grows 2) Privacy: Private transactions extend privacy to any connected asset without sacrificing self custody. NEAR is an AI org at its core. 8) Builders who ship: I’ve been consistently impressed by the team’s velocity and focus on real products that improve users’ lives. Not vaporware. In the arena, trying things 9) A superset of all finance: Today the focus is crypto to crypto rails. The end state is much larger. Stocks, derivatives, forex, prediction markets, commodities, lending. Intents can become coordination infrastructure for all financial venues as they move onchain. 10) Beyond just finance: Intents are not limited to capital markets. They enable subjective requests executed by agents. Find an apartment, book a trip, sell a car, coordinate logistics. This is largely unexplored space which will grow massively in the coming years and Intents is the perfect coordination layer I still fully intend to remain a THORChain community member. ‼️🇨🇭 Switzerland strengthens protection for cash. Voters approved the Federal Council’s counter-proposal, which anchors the Swiss franc in the constitution and obliges authorities to ensure the supply of physical cash (coins and banknotes). Any future move to phase out cash would now likely require another national referendum. 🗳️

I almost bought $3k worth of the wrong USDT token on @baseapp today. And it made me realize something. On Base App, you can easily buy the wrong token without even knowing it. Because there's no clear distinction. Just like most DEXs, I think Base App should add a verified badge for official tokens. Because one wrong click and a beginner could lose real money. I think this is something @jessepollak and the Base team should look into.
