It’s not the obsession that was giving you dopamine. It was the dopamine that was giving you the obsession. Caffeine and other supplements can sustain dopamine. Probable with caffeine is you can hit burnout if you over do it - which might be what you’re experiencing.
Smoking a tiny amount of cannabis can restore the work focus, but again you have to be super careful to only dose to work focus.
