GitLab’s ethical differentiation from Microsoft GitHub has narrowed considerably. Current true open-source Git hosting alternatives worth considering are #Gitea and #Forgejo (the choice of Fedora) 💪. Besides, GitHub is much easier to use than GitLab .

Big week in Linux: Ubuntu + Fedora dropping back to back. Here comes the distro hopping and 200 “this is my new daily driver” YouTube videos 😄 I like Fedora (KDE) a lot but I trust Canonical more than IBM.

I have ~35 years of experience combined in tech and diabetes and I'm not in health tech. I'm silly 🙂

@RiccardoOdone Currently 1 old smartphone collects from the sensor the BG data in RT and from AAPS carbs etc., it sends the info to a server for web apps used for monitoring. The same phone control the insulin pump (close loop), the pump can be managed remotely (sms, vnc etc) in case of need 😎

@RiccardoOdone I hope that the commercial medical products will offer the same soon. They are slowly coming. Unfortunately, as you noticed, they are still blocking the access to ‘our’ data that they collect.

@RiccardoOdone At home mostly DIY and OSS ‘medical’ software for Diabetes, professionally mainly in financial SW industry.

@RiccardoOdone No direct experience, what I learnt from workshops is that if your product/sw is ‘medical’ (e.g. recommend a quantity of insulin) … you have high risks connected to regulations. If you have a ‘support’ product/sw (e.g. count carbs) no issue.

@RiccardoOdone I participated last year helping a team, we passed a couple of rounds. Great experience, you can participate without a project, see the submission of other people, maybe contribute to their projects if they need help. At DCB they are super cool and they try to help everybody

@RiccardoOdone At least with Dx you have an API, with other cgm sellers you have to literally steal the data of YOUR blood sugar from them.

The realtime blood sugars in my Twitter banner are powered by Cypress scraping an online dashboard. I’m shocked by how diabetes tech makes it difficult to build stuff like that.
