Happy #NutDay! It’s no secret that a daily habit of a handful (30g) of #nuts offers some serious health benefits. A major review found people who ate a handful of nuts a day had a 22% ↓ risk of premature death, c/w people who almost never ate nuts. bit.ly/3kj1QtE

Looking forward to today's plenary at #DA2020 on health & sustainability! I first learnt of (& was in awe of) Prof Willett's work 20+ years ago as a student dietitian. @dietitiansaus

Research on the gut #microbiota is constantly evolving, but I suspect some things will pass the test of time! Choose mostly plants, aim for dietary diversity, opt for whole & natural, get among legumes & dabble in fermented food. @DNconnection webinar, with @TheGutHealthDoc 🥦🍊

@tabowden Dr Rae Pallath is one of the GPs taking part in the #TheChangeProgram. “The key difference is we will be seeing them quite regularly, we are not just giving them a diet and telling them to follow this diet and you will lose weight.” #abc730

Diversity, not just adequacy, in fibre-rich core foods promotes richness & eveness in our gut #microbiome. Under consumption of #grains is a major factor affecting diversity, as is following restrictive diets. MACs are important! #DAA2019

Chronobiology: 'A calorie is not a calorie at different times of the day'. Fascinating #DAA2019 workshop on how when we eat (& exercise) matters, linking in with our circadian rhythm. 🌞🌚 @DAA_feed

Strength-based approach refocusses the conversation on the health of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people. Moves the focus from 'what is wrong with people' to 'what keeps people healthy'. #DAA2019 @Wattleseed_Nutr

I'm thrilled to see my article on nutrition communications (talking about the importance of 'how' we communicate as dietitians, and not just 'what' we say) in a recent issue of PEN e-news. Thanks so much to the @pennutrition team!
PEN: Practice-based Evidence in Nutrition@pennutrition

As dietitians, communicating is at the heart of what we do – and the ‘how’ in going about this is important if we are to protect and build our influence and achieve our goal of helping people to be healthier. bit.ly/2Moct1r
