Great question — happy to break down the core economic dynamics we designed NEAR20 around. In short: $NEAR20 is built to turn idle $NEAR into productive capital without forcing anyone to sell, and that has several first-order + second-order effects that are net positive for the $NEAR token and the broader ecosystem. 1. Reduced sell pressure from treasury & long-term holders Many ecosystem treasuries, foundations, VCs, and HODLers sit on large $NEAR positions that generate close to 0% yield. Whenever they need income or want to put capital to work, the default move has historically been → sell → downward pressure. NEAR20 gives them a permissionless, on-chain alternative: wrap → earn structured yield (via autonomous covered-call-like & volatility-harvesting strategies powered by our engine) → keep full upside exposure with defined downside protection bands. → Fewer $NEAR need to hit the open market to generate cash flow. 2. "Locked but earning" liquidity instead of "locked and dead" The wrapped NEAR20 stays fully liquid — you can unwrap back to $NEAR at any time (subject to the current epoch/settlement window). But because it earns yield, the incentive flips: why unwrap and go back to 0% when you can stay in and compound? → This increases effective lock-up time without it, which tightens circulating supply dynamics over time. 3. Yield comes from external volatility, not from $NEAR dilution The premium we collect is paid by option buyers (mostly sophisticated actors trading NEAR perp/implied vol on Rhea and connected venues). It's real external capital flowing into the system — not inflationary token emissions or protocol subsidies. → Net inflow of value to $NEAR holders who participate. 4. Ecosystem flywheel kickstart NEAR Foundation already deployed a portion of treasury into NEAR20 (publicly signaled conviction). As more ecosystem players (DAOs, projects, market makers) follow, the TVL in NEAR20 → more premium collected → higher sustainable yield → more adoption → virtuous cycle. → Strengthens NEAR's DeFi narrative and capital efficiency ranking among L1s. 5. Price stability tailwind (not pump promise) By giving long-term holders a reason to stay rather than sell for yield elsewhere (cross-chain stablecoin farms, etc.), we remove a recurring source of supply overhang.
