It was very exciting to see two of our Year 5 students Lucy and Erica place second in the Nationals of the Young ICT Explorers' Competition for their project - Extinction is Not an Option. These students built an Augmented Reality experience about the endangered Sumatran Rhino.

Congratulations to our Techgirls competition finalists and winners! Five teams were selected as NSW finalists, and 'Tech Queens' Matilda, Phoebe, Lily and Marie-Lou are the NSW State winners with their app 'Wellness Worx'! The project included developing and coding a mobile app.

Year 4 students from St Aloysius' College joined us for a Companions in Learning Tech and STEM Day. After some lively ice-breaker activities, the inventors collaborated in teams to create and code an interactive haunted house, using Makey Makey circuits to add sounds and actions.

On the 25th anniversary of Google, Year 6 students visited the company's Sydney headquarters to hear from some inspiring women working in the technology industry. Thank you Managing Director Melanie Silva who spoke about her career progression, and career opportunities in STEM.

To kick off Science Week, students measured velocity and distance during a lunchtime 'rocket launching' session, and Years 3 and 4 students enjoyed a session learning about AI, how a computer can respond to image recognition, and how to program an app to play Scissors Paper Rock!

Thank you to Christina Maher, Biomedical Engineer at the University of Sydney, who visited our Years 3-6 students for Science Week. Christina gave a fascinating, wide-ranging presentation about how the brain functions, machine learning, sustainability and being a scientist!

Listening to Paul Reynolds “The biggest STEAM project is you” we create, test and iterate as people. What an inspiring session. @FablePaul @ISTEofficial #ISTELive
