This is a false headline. The ANU management has several plans on the table to sack large numbers of staff. They have not retreated an inch. abc.net.au/news/2025-08-2…

The alleged behaviour by Julie Bishop towards my friend and colleague @DrDemography is beyond excusable. It’s despicable. The Chancellor ought to be ashamed of herself, and should resign. ANU Council is beyond dysfunctional. It needs a full overhaul. afr.com/work-and-caree…

There really should be mandated a minimum standard of behaviour in politics. This fails the test and in many ways is a cringeworthy attempt to detract from the lack of any representation Babet gives to his constituents.

@D_Melissa2 Sadly, there is no of code of conduct which applies to Senators. Perhaps if we get enough people to write to these addresses - clerk.sen@aph.gov.au or the Registrar of Senators’ Interests - senators.interests@aph.gov.au - they may have to listen. @senatorbabet is indecent

@kai_h They were endorsed by both houses and were going to be put into Standing Orders when a sanctions body was created. It was created in September this year (the Independent Parliamentary Standards Commission).

Does anyone have any idea how you go about reporting a senator for breach of parliamentary standards - in particular, the Code of Conduct?

One ‘trust in AI’ session, four points discussed, five quotes. Yesterday, the @sgfintechfest kicked off with an Insights Lounge discussion on trust and regulation, moderated by our Head of #OliverWymanQuotient in Asia Pacific, Gaurav Kwatra. The room discussed: 1. How regulators and industry are coming together to define a new framework. 2. Approaches to combat new and emerging risks associated with AI. 3. The role of regulators in providing a code base for industry implementation. 4. AI skills and what the biggest talent pools that AI minded financial firms should focus on. Here are some standout quotes from the session that cover some of the challenges faced in AI: 1. “Generative AI has made AI fluffy and nice. We need to continue to question and test AI.” 2. “We use machines and AI to find an edge or angle; this is therefore a bias. AI is inherently biased.” 3. “If we don’t have humans in the process, will we ever trust AI?” 4. “The banking and financial services industry does not get the best AI talent, but they look after the world’s money.” 5. “The skills needed are not just in launching and building AI systems, but in how we keep those systems going.” The festival continues tomorrow at Singapore Expo, where our team will be at our booth talking about the realities of AI and cutting through the hype. Join us for a coffee and the opportunity to test your organization’s Generative AI readiness. #SFF2024 #AI
