🤫SILENT MATCHES🤫 Recently, Giving Voice have been pairing up with sports teams inside and outside of Marjon to participate in silent matches, to raise awareness of some of the difficulties an individual with a communication difference can face, when getting involved with sport

Thank you to everybody who came to our AAC lunchtime today! We hope it gave everybody some insight into what it is like to order using a low tech AAC! ✨

✨AAC LUNCHTIME✨ On Wednesday the 6th of November giving voice will be taking over the hub restaurant! Everyone will have to order their food and drink via a low tech AAC, to raise awareness for AAC awareness month in October.

💜WORLD STROKE DAY💜 100,000 people have strokes each year. 1 in 3 individuals who have a stroke can have aphasia as a result of this. Help us raise awareness of the warning signs of a stroke, and some of the lasting impacts!

✨AAC POSTERS✨ In today’s session we made some AAC posters to help raise awareness for AAC Awareness Month and what it’s all about!

🌈DLD AWARENESS DAY 2024🌈 Developmental Language Disorder impacts 2 children in every classroom of 30. Help us share what DLD is to raise more awareness!!

🫶✨MENTAL HEALTH DAY 2024🫶✨ 1 in 4 of us in the UK will experience mental health difficulties. This is massively apparent in the SLT world but also amongst student! Talking about mental health can help to support not only yourself but others too!🫶

Committee 24-25💕 This year Sophie will be taking on the role of Treasurer! Sophie and her love for SEN paediatric communication difficulties will bring an amazing contribution to new ideas and meetings🩷

Committee 24-25💕 This year Martha will be taking on the role of Secretary! Martha will be there to keep track of meetings, whilst contributing her love for phonetics, linguistics and paediatrics! 🩷

Committee 24-25💕 This year Ella will be taking on the role of President! Ella is looking to add some new elements to Giving Voice around raising awareness to a wide range of age ranges in all walks of life! 🩷

I was fortunate today to present at the @sltmarjon conference on behalf of @marjongv. We explored the extent of burnout in current SLT students across the UK, and discussed the importance of looking after your mental health as a student.

In honour of Brain Tumour awareness month, we got together last week to make our own models of a brain, and to talk about some of the implications of brain tumours and what speech and language therapists can do to help people with brain tumours 🧠
