A fantastic week in the Rhone Valley, north and south, eking out the last vestiges of summer. Some really positive 2021s, particularly whites, but the best growers have navigated the challenges of the year and arrived with smart wines. The beautiful @chenebleuwine below.

The progress that this country has made (despite all obstacles) in the last 14 years is unbelievable. South Africa is the next Etna, the next Jura, the next region that everyone interested in drinking on the cutting edge of wine should be exploring. It's positively astonishing.

After a few days in the country and 2 days of tasting at the #capewine2022 wine fair, I can say this with great conviction. There is no more exciting wine region in the world right now than South Africa. The hundreds of wines I've tasted in the last 5 days have blown my mind.
