@DeAngelisCorey Interesting; what is included in their definition of operational vs non-operational? Kids have to get to school, be fed, rooms cleaned, grass cut, that fit within 40%?
English

@PattyMurray Tell the truth. Your bill only funded TSA, not DHS.
English

@BasedSavannah @bart70 @PattyMurray Then why isn’t the GOP accepting this bill if the other are already funded? Seems odd they are voting it down if it doesn’t matter.
English

@bart70 @PattyMurray You’re not intelligent enough to converse w/me. Dems CONTINUE to add political “wish list” to the funding.
ICE is ALREADY funded through 2029 via the Big Beautiful Bill.
Turn off CNN & do some actual research. President Trump has handled it. Democrats not needed.

@KevinRobertsTX I’d be interested in reading more on the “meaningful measures” in which you are referring.
English

The Department of Education has had 46 years to prove its worth, and by every meaningful measure, it has failed.
States like Florida, Idaho, and Arizona are showing the success that greater education freedom can bring at the state and local levels. It’s time for Congress to close the agency for good.

@wdunlap @SpeakerJohnson Why does the graphic only list 37 States?

@meltzere @Dyrnwyn @tomloveless99 Enjoyed the article, “the challenge is delivering the message effectively to school site leadership and inducing buy-in at the site level.” This line is key for me with NAEP, students do not give their best on it. Is there any research comparing SAT/ACT vs NAEP?
English

@Dyrnwyn @tomloveless99 I'm sure you know this, but the issue is that they are underrepresented in the sample.
English

In the early days of LTT NAEP, 17 year olds who had left school were nevertheless tested by NAEP.
Derrell Bradford@Dyrnwyn
Uh...very few public school students take the NAEP as well? "For assessments to report national results, the sample is between 10,000 and 20,000 students." ...For states it's 3,000 students from approximately 100 schools in each participating jurisdiction. chalkbeat.org/2026/03/13/low…
English

@KellyRasti And in the world of the internet, student look up the test in advance of taking it; when they find out they have no benefit to do well, they just click answers when forced to take it. It really is an awful measure of student academic achievement.
English

Interesting point.
Not sure lawmakers that use NAEP data for various things realize that only ~half a million students in the entire country take the exam, and they don’t take it annually.
Just worth knowing since that data is leveraged for big things.

Chalkbeat@Chalkbeat
As more students leave the public school system, a lack of NAEP data about private school students could become “the dog that ate the homework.” chalkbeat.org/2026/03/13/low…

@NBL2026 @Grant_11403 @McClain_on_NFL Is it? I think that salary caps for each league determines the significance of it’s size. MLS team salary caps are still less than a single player of the “Big 4.” They have a very respectable league, but not the 5th yet.
English

@AbbottCampaign @GregAbbott_TX Can you explain to me what State Study is and how it affects local tax decisions?
English

The State of Texas does NOT impose a property tax.
Property taxes are out of control because local officials continue to increase them.
Governor @GregAbbott_TX has provided RECORD property tax relief--$51 billion this year alone.
His 5-point plan will drive a stake through property taxes, empowering Texas taxpayers once and for all.

In 1999, Pepsi aired a television commercial featuring child actress Hallie Kate Eisenberg, the younger sister of actor Jesse Eisenberg. In the ad, she enters a diner accompanied by an older man, who appears to be her grandfather. He places an order for a large pepperoni pizza, while she requests a Pepsi to drink.
When the waiter brings her a different cola brand, implied to be Coca-Cola, she responds by imitating Marlon Brando’s character Don Vito Corleone from the film The Godfather. She uses a deep, raspy voice to say, “You’ve insulted me and my entire family by offering me this whatever it is,” but offers him a chance to correct the mistake by serving the Pepsi instead.

@frajurban @espn This is almost impossible to watch; is a kid operating the camera?
English

@espn quit zooming in or zooming out on hockey broadcasts. It’s annoying.
English

@WorkerB09669636 @secretsqrl123 @ChristiCraddick It is 100% public record; they even are required to have two public hearing per year to tell you how they spend the tax dollars.
English

@secretsqrl123 @ChristiCraddick Agreed. And too many schools are lined with portable buildings or buildings that are in ill repair. How schools spend tax dollars should be public record.
English

@chellgod Wish it was a weekend day and spread games out like SEC football to see more

@coach_crumedy Or as that low of an expectation for LSU?!?! 🤣😂🤣
