PAP smears can be really painful and really traumatic and/or bring up old trauma. but instead of avoiding them, talk to your doctor about these feelings and come up with a plan. it'll be hard but you won't regret getting one.

on the pap smear thing: yes it’s rooted in misogyny that cervical cancer screening hasn’t evolved past a pap while prostate cancer screening is becoming less and less invasive but also you do not want to fuck with cervical cancer.

ok, last post on pap smears: i know some people experience pain during them. i’d estimate it’s around 1-5% of women. your pain is valid. keep on advocating for yourself and others. but please don’t let YOUR pain be the reason some scared young woman doesn’t go to the doctor. ty
