GOOD MORNING FAM!!! 🌞 Lets continue this very good week!! 🔥 I am researching the two early games, and this is what I see. The Vegas totals are low, suggesting two good pitching matchups. But we can always find some gold!! Just finished some research - see below. Guardians vs Tigers — Pitching & Matchup Breakdown Weather could play a small factor here. Conditions in Detroit are expected to be around 60 degrees with an 11 MPH wind blowing crossfield, which is generally neutral to slightly suppressive for home run power depending on hitter pull side. It doesn’t project as a major boost for offense. For Cleveland, Joseph Cantillo has shown vulnerability to right-handed bats. Righties are hitting .252 against him with 5 home runs allowed, while lefties have struggled much more, batting just .209 with 1 homer allowed. That immediately puts some of Detroit’s right-handed bats into play, especially considering Cleveland is rolling out a lefty starter. The biggest standout is Dillon Dingler. In a small sample against Cantillo, Dingler is 2-for-4 (.500) with a double and a home run already. That power success against this exact pitcher makes him one of the more intriguing value bats in the game. Matt Vierling is another name to watch. He’s batting .262 against lefties this season and has shown some pop with a homer. Detroit as a team has struggled overall versus left-handed pitching this year, which lowers the ceiling a bit for the Tigers offense as a whole, but the righties still profile much better than the lefties in this matchup. One interesting note is Riley Greene. Even though he’s a lefty facing a lefty starter, he’s still producing against same-handed pitching this year. Greene is batting .370 against lefties with 5 doubles and 1 homer, and he’s also had success against Cantillo, going 2-for-5 (.400) with two singles. That makes him one of the few left-handed Tigers bats you can still trust here. On the Detroit side, Casey Mize has been dominant against left-handed hitters so far. Lefties are batting just .143 against him with no home runs allowed. Righties have had much more success, hitting .304, although he’s only allowed 2 homers total. That creates a difficult matchup for much of Cleveland’s lineup, especially their left-handed bats. The Guardians have not hit right-handed pitching particularly well overall outside of a few names. The one consistent bat is obviously Jose Ramirez, who is batting .333 against Mize in his career matchup history. He hasn’t homered off him yet, but Ramirez remains Cleveland’s most reliable offensive threat. A few younger Guardians bats do stand out statistically against righties this season: Travis Bazzana — batting .311 vs righties with 1 homer Angel Martinez — batting .257 vs righties with 7 home runs Chase DeLauter — batting .248 vs righties with 7 home runs DeLauter and Angel Martinez probably offer the most upside from a power perspective given Mize’s struggles against right-handed hitters. Pirates vs Cardinals — Pitching & Matchup Breakdown Weather in St. Louis could slightly suppress power today. Temperatures are expected to be around 67 degrees with the wind blowing in at 8 MPH, which generally helps pitchers a bit and can knock down a few deep fly balls, especially to the gaps. For Pittsburgh, Braxton Ashcroft has been fairly balanced against both sides of the plate so far. Righties are batting .237 against him with 2 home runs, while lefties are batting .241 with 1 homer. He hasn’t been getting blown up, but there are definitely a few Cardinals bats that profile very well here. The biggest concern for Pittsburgh may actually be the St. Louis right-handed power. Jordan Walker stands out immediately, batting .297 against righties this season with 9 home runs. His raw power and current production make him one of the top bats in this game. Alec Burleson continues to be one of the more consistent hitters in this Cardinals lineup. He’s batting .315 against right-handed pitching with 6 home runs, giving St. Louis another strong middle-of-the-order option. One of the more interesting notes is Nolan Gorman, who already has a home run against Ashcroft. Gorman’s power upside always makes him dangerous, especially against pitchers he’s already taken deep before. Another bat to watch is JJ Wetherholt, who is batting .266 against righties this year with 7 home runs. He adds another layer of left-handed power against a pitcher that has shown he can allow damage to both sides. On the Pittsburgh side, Dustin May has shown a very noticeable split. Righties are batting only .230 against him with 1 homer allowed, but lefties are crushing him, batting .333 with 3 home runs. That immediately puts the Pirates left-handed bats firmly into play. The headline name is obviously Oneil Cruz, who already has a home run against May in only 3 at-bats. Cruz is batting .241 against righties this year with 6 home runs, and his elite power profile makes him one of the highest-upside bats on the entire slate. Brandon Lowe also profiles extremely well here. He’s batting .280 against righties with 7 home runs, and as another left-handed bat facing May’s struggles versus lefties, he becomes one of the stronger Pittsburgh options. Spencer Horwitz has quietly been very solid against right-handed pitching as well, batting .291 with 4 home runs. He may not have the raw ceiling of Cruz, but the consistency against righties stands out. A sneaky upside play is Konner Griffin, who’s batting .270 against righties with 3 home runs this season. If Pittsburgh gets to May early, Griffin could be part of the production stack. SEE YOU SOON!!!! HOPE THIS HELPS!!!!
