@rugbyexpansion @burotu13 @T2Rugby There is no requirement or real need for them now to sign overseas players. But they choose to. So saying they would survive without them seems a moot point .

Dear 🇦🇺 Australia. Please do NOT transplant your own domestic issues onto the entire sport as a whole. The sport risks TERRIBLE policy if they don't understand that Polynesians in Aus playing League should NOT be a priority for WORLD Rugby.
Tier 2 Rugby@T2Rugby

Listening to the Rugby Unity podcast with Eddie Jones & Ewen McKenzie and the discussion is "League, League, League, League". That is fine, but please will Aussies remember that is Australia centric. Hardly anybody else cares about League outside their low population region.

@rugbyexpansion @burotu13 @T2Rugby But they choose not to. As there is so much talent in the PI-NZ-Aust. So much for being a rugby expansionist

@burotu13 @T2Rugby They barely feature in European, South African or South American test sides. They certainly don’t power the sport in any of those regions.

@tvpc8 @T2Rugby Interesting take given PI and Aust/NZ players have played for all int teams, apart from SA & Arg.

@SRHNarborough @BallymoreKing @T2Rugby People comment based on their perspective. So it’s hard to ignore RL in the region. The countries you listed have (in mens) won 5 RWCs, the greatest 7s teams in history, as well players that play for clubs and most international teams around the world. Let alone coaches

@BallymoreKing @T2Rugby Your comment implies this is a much wider problem than originally claimed. I am pointing out that it really isn't, and you're being a tad pedantic by suggesting it being Oceania-wide.

@OGHustle_Rugby @KoroTeeps There is a question of what is super rugby for? Serving the national team or the comp itself?

@KoroTeeps It's the product and how it's delivered as a whole that's slowly killing domestic rugby. The ABs will always attract big crowds but anything under it is dying a slow death. Even as a diehard rugby fan I'm starting to lose interest in SR especially with the way Stan delivers it

"If the Warriors are playing at the same time as Super Rugby, it’s the Warriors playing on Sky Sport 1 on TV. Super Rugby is relegated to Sky Sport 2,” Ken Laban said. nzherald.co.nz/world/all-blac…

@ricsalizzo Ric you know that would never work. The comp would have to be semi-professional because NZ Rugby can't afford to sustain 14 teams. Players would be paid peanuts so the vast majority of our talent would head overseas

@NewsCop_media @PlanetRugby NZ did alright out of it. Aust & SA tried news teams to grow & invigorate the tournament. Japan and Arg had teams. NZ has sat tight on 5 teams and not had to change too much at all.

@PlanetRugby I think NZ is partly to blame for this. They should have reformed their governance sooner and were probably too generous in helping out Oceanic neighbours (looking mainly at Australia). Saying that, the wolf is at their door and they need to step up. Where's the blunderbus? 🤔🙂

@mward1246 @wrhys_writes Not so sure he was messed around. Aust age group player , u20s World Cup for Aust, 1st Melbourne born and bred pro Rebel player. I am sure he has said he contract offers in Aust, the same time as the Scotland deal on the table. Capped by them after a handful of games in Scot

I mean, mostly **yawn**, but journalists really need to catch up to the fact that people migrate to different countries for numerous reasons these days Was Cully moaning when Harry Potter, Tom Lynagh, Josh Canham, Lukhan Salakaia-Loto & Taniela Tupou decided they are Australian?
Matt Ward@mward1246

Cully ⁦@SMHsport⁩ nails it again “there must be a distinction between feeling Scottish, Irish or Welsh and actually being Scottish, Irish or Welsh, and rugby has lost its way in defining that gap. smh.com.au/sport/rugby-un…
