@CPFC Congratulations to Macclesfield, they deserved the win. Crystal Palace gave the best high last season, but this is a new low, got played off the pitch. Players need to take a hard look at themselves along with Parrish and transfer market decisions. You reap what you sow.

Considering Parish should be giving Glasner everything he wants (best manager we’ve ever had imo), I think Parish should take the hit and let Guehi go on a free next summer. I have such mixed feelings about the Marc Guehi situation. On one hand, he’s our captain, there’s fewer than 24 hours to go in the window, there’s no obvious replacement for him and the manager has come out and categorically said “we cannot sell him”. On the other, he’s a top, top class defender who is going to walk out of the door for nothing in 11 months and leave us needing to replace a gaping hole both on and off the pitch from a standing start. If this deal was done even two weeks ago, I could have understood it far more but I will say that it’s even more tricky from a board perspective when the manager is saying publicly “we simply must not sell him” when he himself only has a contract until the summer of 2026. If Oliver Glasner was here for 3 more years and said to the board “I understand the financial hit but give me my captain for another 12 months and we’ll work a way through the aftermath together” I’m not sure this would even be a conversation. My take ultimately though, is that despite the extremely difficult situation this places our board in, selling with under 24 hours to go would be PR hell and lead to a situation where large swathes of the fan-base are in open mutiny, as a consequence of the extremely direct comments from the manager. What will happen? I don’t know but if it was up to me, at this stage, I’d sit tight and accept him walking for free in 2026, who knows, we might get Europe again if he’s here another year. I’m off to bed, Deadline Day hourly updates tomorrow.
