Yesterday I had the best time moderating a panel with these wonderful people. @BeatriceInst invited me, @robertbhass, @georgedclark and Mike Aquilina to help launch @NorthDakotaJane’s last collection of poetry. What an honor! The highlight: meeting Mr. W, Jim Luptak!

@wrathofgnon Though to me, this cob-and-thatch home is far more charming than his Max Gate... though probably less full of "the best modern conveniences." ( I always wish people would mention that he was a poet--one of those muse-kissed souls who made beauty in both poems and novels.)

The Dorset cottage where author Thomas Hardy (1840-1928) was born and wrote his most famous novels. It is just as wonderful as you'd expect from his writing: cob walls, brick and lime facing, thatched roof. Built by his great-grand father in 1800, Hardy was himself an architect.

“Nowadays we don’t live in a beautiful culture. We live in a world where most things around us are accidental, ill-considered, often deliberately sinful, and so modern people grow up without any obvious guide in their lives as to what is beautiful and what is ugly.” —Andrew Gould

Holy Monday orthochristian.com/176768.html In the divine service of Great Monday the Holy Church invites the faithful to accompany Christ, to be crucified with Him, to die for Him to the pleasures of life, so that we may live with Him.

Friends (no fooling!), I am delighted to share that I have signed a contract with @WisebloodBooks for my next poetry collection, THE CRYSTAL HAND, to publish this December. Michael Cook has again created exceptional art to bring the world of this book to life. Are you ready?

No surprise, but grateful to see that Glynn Young finds @sethwieck's Call Out Coyote truly standout: "I don’t say this lightly, but this collection is a marvel of language and love for a geography and its people. I was enraptured." tweetspeakpoetry.com/2026/03/12/poe…

@MJSteinbac Thought of a book I haven't read--eep!--Reluctant Capitalists from UChicago, about consumerism and the book trade. Didn't read, as decades of my life have already taught me more than I want to know about how books are valued and how the selling of them has changed.

Interesting video on how capitalism has taken over books/literature. Does anyone know of any essays about the effect of capitalism/consumerism on books that they can recommend? m.youtube.com/watch?v=IlE_kx…

@MayaClubine Meet Me at the Lighthouse by Dana Gioia is my current read, and it's fantastic. A Heaney and a Yeats collection, of course. The Book of the Red King by Marly Youmans, and Paul's Bower Lodge, of course, of course.
