Happy birthday to hall of fame coach Harold "Hump" Daniels, born on this day in 1900 in Stillwater. Daniels attended Oklahoma A&M University and played catcher for the Aggies' baseball team, where was known as one of the team's best hitters. He then began his coaching career at Yale High School, where he was named director of athletics at the age of 25. In 1931, he was hired at Perry and after a 4-8 record in his first season, Daniels went on to coach 18 consecutive winning seasons, including undefeated teams in 1934, 1936 and 1939. He compiled a record of 145-52-3 at Perry before retiring after the 1950 season. The Perry football team plays its home games at Daniels Field, named in his honor in 1952. In 1969, Daniels was inducted into the Oklahoma Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Daniels passed away in 1971 and was laid to rest at Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry. #tdfn #okpreps @maroon_perry

JH teams both finished with hard fought wins vs Newkirk. These guys continuously improved throughout the year. Guys figured some things out about themselves and what they’re capable of. They made all those early mornings worth every minute. Future is bright for the Maroons #TEL
