#EMTALA, or the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act, is a federal law enacted in 1986 that requires hospitals participating in Medicare to provide emergency medical screening and stabilization to anyone who arrives at an emergency department, regardless of insurance status, ability to pay, or other factors. But EMTALA is an access-to-care standard, not a malpractice standard. I just finished an expert report on the subject for an expert witness engagement. #expertwitness

If you‘re with someone who is only engaged or interested when you pull away, this their attachment wounding coming into play. You can not love them out of their attachment style.

If they only show interest or work on the relationship when you start pull away… They probably have a fearful avoidant attachment style. Here’s The Signs:

Thanks for posting —very helpful. I didn’t know what a fearful avoidant was until I dated one. It was an intense, but also painful six months once I realized the compartmentalization this woman had was part good girl part hiding a separate life of an undisclosed bad girl because of the need to be seen as a good girl

Avoidant attachment is often judged from the outside. People assume avoidants are cold, afraid, emotionally unavailable, or secretly yearning for a connection they just don’t know how to handle. But that’s rarely how it feels from the inside. Most avoidants don’t walk around thinking they’re wounded or broken. What they feel is clear. In control. Functional. They’ve created a system for themselves that keeps them emotionally safe and mentally unburdened, and for the most part, it works.
