@speardovich basically I think having AI for once be represented as smth that tries to help people but fucks everything up in said process works a lot better than "AI starts tormenting humans" and shit. As a character tho, I think Caine's changes in E8 needed more room to breathe.

@marshfello12 when it comes to his insecurities, he’s a very emotionally unregulated guy. i feel like it makes sense for him to lose his mind and go down this path but also i’m curious what kind of ai themes do you mean? i feel like it makes sense

Since it’s been a week, am I gonna get crucified for saying that I only found Caine interesting after he lost his shit? He was always just a whiny little baby to me who kept ignoring people’s problems. It was only when he broke did I take interest #TADC #TheAmazingDigitalCircus

@ChorusSarcastic I think it'd be so cool if you made a video on how Kinger's condition isn't linked to darkness, but him realizing something around him is similar to something from the time he was sane (or to lucid moments, tho he takes longer with those), an analysis of each instance of it.

@acefreezies @bumble_bbgun I mean his whole arc in E8 feels rushed, not that it wasn't set up to some extent (tho I still feel like that wasn't the most natural conclusion for him to come to personally, and that it disrupts the AI themes a bit, but whatever). Also that makes his past actions confusing imo.

@justa50yensquid @bumble_bbgun I generally meant they should look much more uncomfortable than they do in the sequence, it seems very toned down due to the full focus on Caine. This ep in general does really struggle to flow well narratively imo.

@marshfello12 @bumble_bbgun You can see the cast being scared and very much uncomfortable as Caine sings about how they have no free will and will do as he says, it is meant to be jarring and off putting in the context of the show BECAUSE it feels that way for the cast too At least that's how I interpret it

@amdamsky @bumble_bbgun I feel like there should be more of a reaction from the cast during the song personally, even if Caine is generally managing things, they clearly can react to the events to some extent.

@marshfello12 @bumble_bbgun It is unnatural, and that's the point. He's telling them in a cheery show tune that he's going to torture them for eternity

@bumble_bbgun Also, I said "aesthetic" but it's rather both that and fan appeal that feels a little pushed forward further than the writing actually flowing well and making for a compelling story. This ep has very little to it when you compare it to anything else in the show imo.

@bumble_bbgun I admittedly don't even think it worked well here. It's the best case scenario for a genuine musical moment in the show but it still makes everyone other than Caine feel extremely off and also highlights this ep's problem of aesthetic over writing. This is all my opinion ofc.

@amdamsky @bumble_bbgun tho tbf that's also a cause of me thinking Caine's arc is very undercooked in E8, which is funny cuz besides him we get borderline nothing from anyone.

@amdamsky @bumble_bbgun what I mean is it leads to every character just being kind of... there, and in the end all it does is insist on an idea in regards to Caine that's already been established

@birdie_gre73178 @gwnday Don't you find it suspicious that they specifically made it so that the dark place Kinger had that moment in with his wife was in the pillow fort itself? If it truly was darkness that made him lucid I think they would've most likely made them separate locations.

@birdie_gre73178 @gwnday He had that moment with his abstracted wife in the pillow fort, that's why it works, it's not about the light.

@kadaru_ @gwnday I do get where your theory comes from but it seems very randomly inconsistent considering some of the lucidity instances if so.

@kadaru_ @gwnday I actually don't think so. I think his memory loss was caused by going too far into the void. Idk for sure but it seems to be what they're hinting at so far.

@gwnday I point this out bc in that scene right after we have Kinger talking a lot about the past, so it does feel like an intended parallel to something we have yet to learn about said past.

@gwnday This applies to any lucid moment he has throughout the show. The one we don't know much about is him only being lucid in the 2D eyes scene when saying "I think we should...", and the only other time that was said was by Pomni in E8 right before they got to the bar. Interesting...
