Innalillahi wa inna ilayhirrajiun!
I remember my last encounter with you earlier this year. We visited you in Daura. I met you in your small, austere living room—just a bookshelf, a tea table, a blue sofa, and two guest chairs. Naturally, I sat on the floor, like I always have… I knew I wouldn’t be there for long, as you gently chided us for it, like you always did.
What a shy, humble person you’ve always been. With a soft smile, you walked up to the shelf and picked out a book, casually dusting it off—though I wasn’t entirely sure there was any dust at all. Oh, what I wouldn’t give to know its title now.
The first words that came out of my mouth were, “Baba, what kind of courage did it take to rule Nigeria?”
You simply smiled and shook your head. We chatted for a few minutes, and then it was time to go. We reluctantly took our leave, not knowing it would be the last time we’d ever set our eyes on the revered Baba Buhari again.
Your passing has left Nigeria visibly shaken. The news spread through the length and breadth of the nation you once led; the nation that revered you.
May Allah grant you the highest rank in Jannah.

Spent the whole day reaching out to our family and loved ones over the shocking flood disaster in Maiduguri.
Families, businesses, institutions, critical infrastructure, and even cemeteries are either displaced or uprooted. To imagine that I left Yerwa boisterous and all, just two weeks ago makes this tragedy deeply personal.
I wish to sympathise with the good people of Borno, the government, and the revered Borno Emirate over this sad and traumatic experience.
His Excellency the Vice President has already led a very powerful team to the city, including NEMA officials for both sympathy and emergency services.
I am deeply touched. Yerwa will survive and conquer this, too.

I received with shock the unfortunate news of the passing of Hajiya Saratu Giɗaɗo (Daso). A well-known and jovial actress who played a pioneering role in the Kannywood industry, Daso was always a delight both on and off the screen. In 2016, I had the pleasure of meeting her at the emir's palace in Kano (where she was a constant face), where we shared a lighthearted moment joking about our shared name.
She was not just recognized for her talent on screen but also for her philanthropic efforts, including her most recent initiative to provide meals for orphans during Ramadan.
We are grateful for the joy she brought us and sincerely pray that Allah accepts her good deeds and grants her eternal peace. Ameen.
