My next highlighted game of Day 3 of the UAA-UA Rise Session II Live Period turned into an absolute classic between @al_truthball and Team 1848. This one was not for the faint of heart. Physical, Intense, and emotional. Two squads throwing punches for four straight quarters and refusing to back down an inch.
Team 1848 stormed out of the gates, throwing haymakers early behind the explosive play of #1 @Matthewros40474, who nearly outscored the Alabama Truth by himself in the opening quarter. He came out smokin' hot with 17 early points, attacking from everywhere on the floor and completely setting the tone for his squad. His offensive eruption helped Team 1848 jump out to a strong 25-15 lead after one quarter and immediately put pressure on the Truth.
But Alabama Truth answered in the second quarter by turning the defensive intensity all the way up. The energy changed completely as they started making every catch difficult, contesting everything, and forcing Team 1848 into tougher possessions. They only allowed 10 points in the quarter and slowly started clawing back into striking distance. Still, Team 1848 never panicked and carried themselves with tremendous poise, taking a 35-27 lead into halftime.
Then came the third quarter.
Everything Team 1848 touched turned to gold. Big shots, tough finishes, hustle plays, and timely defense. What had been a gritty battle suddenly exploded into a commanding cushion as they stretched the lead all the way out to 55-24 and even forced a running clock in the fourth. It looked like the game might completely slip away.
But Alabama Truth had other plans.
The Alabama squad completely flipped the energy once again with relentless, suffocating defense that turned the pressure all the way up. They trapped hard, forced turnovers, attacked the passing lanes, and made Team 1848 uncomfortable for long stretches. By the 3:30 mark of the fourth quarter, they had cut the massive lead nearly in half while holding Team 1848 scoreless during key stretches of the comeback push.
From there, the final 1:40 turned into a war of wills. Every possession mattered. Bodies were hitting the floor. Players were battling for every rebound and loose ball like the game depended on it. Neither side was willing to flinch under the pressure. But in the end, Team 1848 did just enough to weather the storm and escape with a hard-fought 59-50 victory.
Leading the way for Team 1848 was #1 @Matthewros40474 with a monster all-around performance of 21pts, 4rebs, 4stls, and 2asts while completely controlling the tone offensively. #0 @jordankrau49216 added 12pts, 3rebs, and a steal with timely production throughout the battle. Meanwhile, #4 @masoncolvin45, usually known as the blue-collar energy guy, turned into today’s X-factor by fueling his team with 11pts, 3rebs, and 2stls while bringing toughness and momentum-shifting plays.
For Alabama Truth, #23 C. Hudson was an absolute force with 21pts, 12rebs, and a steal, battling nonstop inside and refusing to let his team quit. #5 @AsaPriola added 11pts, 7rebs, and 1ast while helping spark the late comeback push.
This one had everything you want in Live Period basketball. Runs, toughness, heart, and two teams laying it all on the line.
