I find it very hard to give audience to people with defeatist and non-agentic worldviews. People who deep in their hearts and minds believe that the answer to their suffering is outside of themselves Or people who write off X as bullshit just because they couldn't make it work.

Feels like a lot of people have become allergic to smiling and disarming themselves and putting others at ease. But I think people where I live have never been the best at this

I am disgustingly unwell-read. What books should I read?

A lot of self-help books like atomic habits, deep work, can't hurt me, 12 rules and other likewise slop do not talk enough about self-sabotage. I think we instinctively know what we should be doing 90% of the time but there's sabotaging going on because of the stress and pressure

the more I teach myself things and work on research projects, the more I keep coming back to an obvious (and maybe impractical) truth: if you learn at your own pace i.e. teaching yourself then you can actually learn anything you need to be guided by your own curiosity and lack of satisfaction at your own understanding. College creates this artificial loop “one homework per week” that creates the illusion to you and the professor that you actually “get it” when you don’t
