It’s just a dumb trade.
The Pacers are sending out Nesmith, Toppin, Sheppard, plus all of their tradeable first-round picks for Murphy and Bey, which is something they wouldn’t even do.
Meanwhile, the Lakers are included to help facilitate the deal, and all they’re giving up is Jake LaRavia (who’s trash) and two second-round picks. Like, what is that?
The Lakers need to include an unprotected first-round pick, which they don’t have, and the Pacers need one of their first-round picks taken out of the deal. That’s the only way this trade makes any sense.
