After 21 years with Chesterfield Co Public Schools, I am graduating with my seniors. I’ve accepted a full time position at @brightpointccva and will be teaching math there this fall!

@alicekeeler I “read” it in my head as 9 groups of 9 - 8 groups of 9 + 7 groups of 9 … to help me calculate.

@LieslMcconchie @Farrley I taught an elem math methods course last semester. When we got to the topic of fact fluency, the negative feelings associated with their facts learning experiences from 10-12 years ago was still so strong (the mention of mad minutes and ice cream sundae awards had them 😡)

We're missing the point about math anxiety and timed math tests. Whether the relationship is causational or not is NOT what's significant. The entanglement of these 2 concepts is blinding us to the dangers each brings to a student. Lean in, folks. I'm fired up. 🧵 #MTBoS

@GotMathHelp You can go on AP’s website and look up the university to see what their policy is (it will link to university page). I was looking for my son and found VA Tech had a page that gave scores required, what class it would count for, and the restrictions depending on the major.

We still have some spots available for high school math, science, CTE, and computer science teachers! 🤩 We're betting you can find some creative ways to spend $3000 on professional learning over the next two years!! 🤔 #choice4teachers @directorofppi/video/7145525891131657514" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">tiktok.com/@directorofppi

@robertqberry @saravdwerf @4mpberry If a student showed work and gets partial credit on other test questions where they also put the wrong answer down, I don’t see why you wouldn’t do the same for MC questions (assuming the work is there). Unless your purpose is to mimic the state testing where that isn’t the case.

@KristieDonavan @pgliljedahl @AlexOverwijk I have a few teachers that have a 3-4 questions on a page and make a packet with all the problems. They tape page protectors next to the group boards, then slide the question packet in. Groups can progress through them once they checked their work (with other groups or teacher).

@JustinAion When I was in the classroom, I would just casually mention that they might hear it called FOIL by others and also that it was limited on the problems it could be applied to.
