The distance between Iran & this base is ~4000km. Just to put that in context, my house (5km from Faslane naval base btw) is ~4000km from northern Iran. London is under 3,700km. They got greedy. If they’d charged less, they’d have been full constantly. Instead they milked a captive audience and suddenly, that audience was no longer captive. I feel so bad for the staff, who aren’t to blame for any of this but will suffer the most.

In other countries you see car parks with those lights that show u empty spots. Not here. You see them redesigning to make spaces larger. Not here. You see fees that are high, but you know it’s safe & easy to park. But not here

Lots of chat on here about the need for a referendum on assisted dying. Problem is even if public voted for it, wd be on the principle, not the detail & we saw that played out in Holyrood from stage 1 to stage 3. Referendums don’t write the law. Would still be in hands of MSPs

@FinlayMcF @DAstonSNP The right thing to do. AI can be v useful for customer service & comms. Getting people the answer and info they need. But ai-slop “art” or poetry etc isn’t that. It’s at best lazy, at worst plagiarism of real artists. It has no place in a city of culture.

As the city rushes to catch up and create a policy to manage AI, I was proud that my addition to the cities AI policy passed unanimously and was adopted. As a UNESCO city of literature renowned for our festivals and art scene the world over we must ensure we lead from the front.

Following the Glasgow fire, I’ve written to SFRS about fire safety inspections for vape shops. The cause is still under investigation, but it’s raised concerns for residents in Helensburgh & across Argyll & Bute.

Someone needs to redo Scrapheap Challenge, but at a higher engineering level, with something more serious than a rusty Trebuchet as the aim, but with one team allowed no computers at all, and the other allowed all modern engineering analysis tools. I would bet that some rather surprising things might happen. Team A could be called the "Luddites", and I nominate myself as their first team member.
