certain players do well against pressure, others do very poorly. Id they were told to do specific things, you would see everyone struggle or so well. Unless the skill of the player (or lack there of) prohibits that solution, I question what coaching is telling said players to do in specific situations. KK has had many many cases where he gets the team to change style mid game to counter what the opponents are doing. On the game to game basis, this is more about the D coaches. That's where my focus is on. Might be a big reason for KK's issues with Coffey.

@mathewjdp Mathew, by my eye a lot of issues Edmonton has against the pressure of teams like FLA is that their transition game is either panic stricken or way too nonchalant. To me, this goes to how the coaching staff prepares them and how they practice. Its not close to good enough

Issue today for me was breakouts. Edm shot share was 14-5 when Bouchard was on the ice. As soon as he left the ice, Fla took advantage 14-6. If Edm's opponent is still winning the goal share during #2's minutes, Edm doesn't stand a chance. This cannot happen. Edm needs it's Dman to be better (Walman and Nurse). This game isn't significant towards the standings but the overall theme this season isn't a good one. Murphy, Frederic, and Savoie had strong games tonight. I also thought Samanski played well. Slot shot final count Edm: 10 Fla: 11 Inner Slot final count Edm: 7 Fla: 5 Overall, the defensive play was still good. It was just the inability to create offensively. The forwards rely on the Dman to get them the puck. That was very poorly done tonight if it wasn't Bouchard, Ekholm or Murphy doing it.

Certainly Coffey. Don't get me wrong, the system itself needs to work with the systems KK overall implements, but like any business, KK is the manager overseeing his assistants job. I was calling out Stuart all the same when he was struggling. KK isn't there to develop players either. Again that's the development coaches and Coffey is one of them.

@mathewjdp Would you consider breakouts the D coach job or knobs job. I would say Coffey more.

D Deployment, strategy and more is the job of the defensive coach. Just saying.

@marten_ferguson Defense made the forwards to a bag skate the whole game. Effort is the last word i would give here as the problem.

@mathewjdp Yeha true. I would like to see when Emberson returns bench one of of nurse or Walman. And play Stanstey and Emberson on the second pair. But Coffey will never demote nurse.

@zach_20007 Edm has two lefty's who are unplayable at this very moment. I do not care for Leppanen's occasional defensive blunders. Edm needs his elite puck moving ability and offensive creation ability.

@corprice12 It's a defining trait for this team it it continues to not be solved. I will have heated words if it's not solved this summer, as I've never have had before. At this stage though, I am still calm.

@corprice12 I disagree that Edm isn't that good. With good goaltending, they are actually one of the best.

Nurse loses three defensive plays, has a turnover, and Bouchard comes over to help because he's had enough. Bouchard lets his man open for a tip from the point. 2-0 Fla. Frustrating shift watching Nurse here. Couldn't stop a zone entry or win 2 board battles.

@moneygoalie31 puck down low is really how to defeat Fla. Pucks to the net hurts because blocks and odd man chances will be the death of Edm.

@mathewjdp They are trying to pass thier way to victory…no Leon means simplifying the game. Shoot the puck and crash the net

@davemorrow23 A systematic advantage it seams. Some teams just are a poor matchup for Edm.

Edm will lose this game. Not the end of the world. Nurse and Walman especially continue to be beyond sloppy.

@shiva_s1 At this stage in the season, every game is equally important (besides divisional opponents). If i'm shocked about smt, it's that Edm still hasn't found a way to break Fla's system fluently.

@mathewjdp You would think the Oilers would have this game circled on their calendar, given the BS they were spouting in the off-season about McDavid. Its like they dont play with pride. idk i am pissed watching them play this game.
