The single most important vote in Catalyst History: "Catalyst Fund Operations" Link: cardano.ideascale.com/c/idea/107493 TLDR: IO is currently running Catalyst and taking money from the treasury without ever having gotten a mandate from the Community for it. Now they want to change this by putting it up for a vote. In my opinion, there are some very heavy problems with this: 1. No one really knows this is happening; its almost as if IO didn't want anyone to know so that no competition forms 2. Legitimizing Catalyst by voting IN Catalyst does not make any sense. 3. From my understanding, the only proposal that fulfils the scope of expectation from Catalyst is their own proposal. And the main reason for that is that it was not clearly communicated what exactly the expected scope is. 4. The handoff to the next provider of Catalyst is supposed to happen in October 2023, which is completely unrealistic. and most importantly: 5. The Catalyst team decided to specify that they want funding for the next 3 funding rounds INCLUDING approx. 50 Mio ADA per fund for the projects. This has not been specified in the Challenge Setting and is not an appropriate way to get 150 Million ADA from the treasury imo. So to recap: If you vote for ANY proposal except the one from IO, there's no plan for how much ADA will be distributed to this team to continue Fund11-13. And it's not clear if Catalyst will even continue at this point. But if you vote for the IO team, you're not only voting for this team to continue running Catalyst but instead you're also voting for Fund11-13 to exist and receive 50Mio ADA each. This is not something that has been specified in the Challenge setting but basically, something that the IO team "just put in". -- With Voltaire in mind, the typical process something like this should be handled is that Catalyst would need to apply directly to the Voltaire Governance system to receive their funding.

News Flash: We don’t care if you don’t like $ada or Charles, but posting nonsense and FUD will get met with critical thinking. Read through a $DOT post berating Charles for alien hunting instead of “building his blockchain”. Let’s make a couple things clear: -it’s not his blockchain anymore -people are allowed to have real lives (crazy) I’ve never seen so many poor takes including in the comments. Charles is free to do what he wants in his spare time. He’s put in the hours, fought the good fight, and works hard for this industry, not just Cardano. On top of that, attempting to correlate what someone does in their free time to the success of a 12 billion dollar market cap chain, ran by the people, is insanity. Maybe you don’t realize it but if you need or rely on one persons work you are NGMI and are probably more centralized than you think. TL:DR Let the man live. It’s not like he’s on a beach getting hammered, he’s literally looking for extraterrestrial technology that could validate the unknown. Also, we don’t rely on Charles anymore.
