When I was young, I didn't like to study at all. I always felt overwhelmed. Whenever I saw my pile of textbooks, I felt tired. I always procrastinated and said I’ll study later when I have more free time.
On one afternoon, I sat with my grandpa, who was a retired builder, and I complained that I had so much to learn but it always felt hard to crack "this mountain."
My grandpa smiled, handed me a brick, and asked, "How did I build those buildings in town? Did I carry the whole building at once?"
I laughed and said, "No, you did it one brick at a time."
"Exactly," my grandpa said. "Do it just like that. Do one page at a time; don’t try to complete everything at once."
So, from that day on, I tried to finish one page in 10 minutes, and gradually, I increased the time.
At the end of the month, I realized something:
1.Small wins add up.
2.The start is the hardest part.
3.Consistency beats intensity.
The moral is that you don't have to see the whole staircase; you just have to take the first step. Just lay one brick perfectly every day, and soon you will have a castle.
