Can you imagine the parent complaints if imaginary numbers were invented/discovered in 2023? "Excuse me, math teachers are now teaching our kids that imaginary numbers exist? What's next? Hidden 1s everywhere???"

@EmilyHoli13 I am sorry this happened to you. My pastor always starts his seminar with "When we hear the sounds of children"and the congregation we repeats "we say praise be to God there are children in the church." As mom with two little boys I always appreciate it.

I just had a 50-something woman come up to me and tell me that my 2 yo’s “loud behavior ruined her only quiet hour of the day.” I’m really serious when I say I need some COMEBACKS AT THE READY that don’t include the F-word. parents, halp. #parenting #comebacks 🫶🏻

@DrBennison I am a statistical analyst for an insurance company, doing mostly data reporting. I work from home which I love. It's been a positive change. I picked up tutoring on the side so I still get to do some of the things I loved about teaching.

I am pleasantly surprised that I find myself getting just as excited about snow in my post teacher life/no more snow days life. Let it snow! ❄️

Just used some good ole trigonometry to help my husband figure out the angle he needs to cut a piece of wood for a weight rack. So to answer "when am I ever going to use?" You might not be as lucky as my husband to be married to a former math teacher.

My new job is going really well. It's a total change of pace. I love wearing comfy clothes, going for a quick walk during my break, closing my computer at the end of the day and not thinking about work until the next day, having energy to play with my kids and workout. 👍👍👍

It's finally sunk in that I'm not going back to school. I'm feeling a little sad, mostly about missing the relationships I've built with students. Also it's strange not being Mrs. Vogel. People call me Laura now. It's weird. 😜

Why would I create a student extra credit when they don't even do the normal for credit work? Uggggh, I despise the end of the semester.

Someone needs this reminder.

Yesterday I turned in my letter of resignation. After 9 years of teaching, I have decided to leave education. Lots of tears were shed over this decision. There is so much I love about being a teacher but unfortunately there were a lot of aspects of my job that made me pretty

@stogdill4ed Still figuring it out. I have a 2nd interview with a company to work remotely as a statistical analyst. I am reading Ken Coleman's book From Paycheck to Purpose. I found the 2nd chapter helpful to identify my talents, passions and mission then looking for careers that fit those

@mathwithmsvogel What are you going to do now? I feel like so many of us are in the same boat.

This is in no way a disrespect to my school. It's just the reality of being a teacher right now. It's hard.
