@hbrooks_coach How is this not already a thing? In American football it's called 2 minute drill.

My colleague said the other day, and it’s a brilliant idea “Last ten minutes coach”. How often in games do you see teams chasing a goal, and the last ten mins, all they resort to is either hoof ball into the box, set pieces or safe passive u-shape football not going anywhere. Basically not having any ideas. It’s a situation all teams face multiple times in a season yet it doesn’t seem any genuinely prepare for it. Whether it’s a separate coach, or you make sure it’s a dedicated focus, I really think there’s something in this idea to explore.

Can anyone educate me on whether any other Premier League/European clubs have employed specific ‘transition coaches’?

Djed Spence has been largely disliked for a while for daring to show a bit of personality. Now he’s the only one who has shown some integrity. Some boy.

@hbrooks_coach I was wondering this. We have a lot banging the drum of pass first, deep lying play maker. We have just signed two pass first CBs. Not that they'll play together but isn't some combination of that with Porro, a huge step? And wouldn't we possibly be lacking elsewhere, potentially

I do think people need to calm down with the “need a pass first midfielder” stuff. I’m not keen on Tonali because I think he doesn’t offer much different to what they have and simply isn’t THAT good. But there’s more than one way to skin a cat. Football is more simple than is made to be online. “Score more goals than the opposition”. Nowhere does that state it needs to be a “6” or “8” or whatever number you want to use. Can you platform your players to get the best out of them and/or win football matches? There are countless ways to do that. It isn’t fifa. Shown by Arsenal winning the league with Rice who doesn’t want to receive on the turn but a brilliant forward passer when he’s facing player and Zubimendi who’s often allergic to passing forward often the duo who started together in most games. Why can’t Maddison drop in? Why can’t Porro tuck in? Why can’t Senesi find the furthest man forward? Why can’t “…etc” Players don’t have to be stuck. Break it down simple. What do you want him doing, and how are you going to use him to help you score more goals than the opposition?

Can’t even say this about American Tottenham fans, I be waking up at 7am to watch us lose 1-0 to Bournemouth, there’s no pretending I am quite literally stuck with them lmao
Himbo President 🇵🇸@himbopresident

American eurosnob soccer fandom is so funny to me, it's just picking one of the five teams that has a chance of winning the UCL and then pretending you have a deep emotional connection to them because you endured the dark days of them only finishing fifth domestically

@hbrooks_coach Would this not just be setting goals? Concentrating on the here and now and what you can control makes sense as well, but they aren't mutually exclusive ideas.

Having Porro and Robertsons crossing ability on both sides will be a massive advantage for us. Udogie has great ball carrying abilities but his defensive work and end product still need work and then there’s his injury record. Captain/ leader also which we need. #thfc

Kevin Danso is such an asset. Keeps his head down, never moans, works hard, nothing flash, always absolutely solid, seems like a top lad, does a bunch of incredible charity work outside of football, and off his own back. Very lucky to have him. Big love for big Kev. 100% COYS.

Thomas Frank will get more games and be backed in this January window. Then there will be a mini-review at the end of the season to assess Frank's performance. Right now, they aren't looking to move on from him. [@JacobsBen via @LastWordOnSpurs]
