Was recently implementing an endpoint with SSE, using ReadableStream and Reader for streaming LLM stuff
and I could've sworn there was a better API for this... that I learned about literally 10+ years ago... but I couldn't recall
TIL it's EventStream and the reason it's seldom used for streaming SSE events nowadays is because... it has no support for auth?!?! What a strange limitation

@OstapBrehin EventStream API has no support for auth. SSE ofc does — it’s just a request
But because EventStream has no support for auth headers, then you have to use fetch, which is a much more verbose solution

@matteing What do you mean SSE "has no support for auth"? I thought it's possible to pass Authentication headers or cookies (session)

yeah we had to rip and rebuild a huge part of our frontend because agents just cannot reason about reacts render loop yet, it creates a massive tangle.

6 months ago, the models "could not reason about rusts lifetime / borrow logic" and now they can do that fairly well so maybe this will improve. but for now yeah, don't use useEffect
