There's a bill up in committee today to allow for-profit first-run movie theaters to get liquor licenses. NJ allowed non-profit theaters to do this not long ago. My question: Are there any second-run theaters left in NJ?

@StephenWhitty Just learning about it now, but this creates a new type of license that costs the theaters $210K instead of having them to bid for a regular license, which can cost up to a couple million.

@MattFriedmanNJ On a related subject: Some AMC theaters, which are certainly for-profit, already include a gimmicky bar that serves beer, wine and hard liquor. Why is a new bill needed?

I'm not sure why people on here talk so much about generic ballot polling. Maybe it's not a perfect indicator, but doesn't actual voter behavior in elections over the last year say more about the political environment than what people tell pollsters?
